Car got hit and person wants to pay

Featured Replies

I would let her pay if at all possible even if there is some minor inconvenience to you. After all she's done the right thing and admitted liability straight away.

I've been stung by insurance for a non fault claim before.

For anyone that would be interested, car got taken to kinghorn bodyshop and I requested a 4 wheel alignment was done as I had paid for it a few months before the accident. Came back that the steering rack, shock, hub etc were all damaged and the car was written off.

Sorry to hear that.

Good job you had that alignment then!

oh dear.

so who paid the market value of the vehicle? Her insurance company, or was her boyfriend really that keen to keep her out the ****?

Her insurance company. Ended up calling my insurance who passed me onto kindertons accident management. Been pretty useless so far. Still disputing vehicle value (they wont budge from £3.4k) and uninsured losses claim (child car seat and base)

Christ, the damage described in the first post sounded minor!

I was as shocked to hear it had been written off. The car drove fine, no pulling or anything and it got up to DC speeds frequently after the accident.

Bodyshop pointed out the obvious difference in how the front left wheel sat to the front right when the steering wheel was straight.

The 2 threads running will even confuse me, one here and one in the Insurance Section,

and i remember the posts.

Basically 'They' want to bend you over,

you are the innocent party, so get your right pay out, and do not accept less than Pre no fault collision.

Gone through that many times telling them "I was the one not at fault, I just want to be put into a similar car as I had before the accident. Why should I suffer for her stupid mistake/lack of skill"

I will request this topic is locked to avoid any confusion.

ah okay. i hope all goes well.

Ive had a similar instance in the past.. and one thing i will say is, defo dont accept their first offer, regardless.

Get a few listings together off ebay and show them (usually the most expensive ones that arent even priced to sell i thought helped), show them service history, how well its been cared for etc etc. "how can i get another one of these for that money?".

keep working on it, youll get there :)
