Rapid news

Surely it is a successful car for Skoda, but adding up sales at different markets to make a 'grand total' makes no sense. Especially for the Indian model which is completely different from the EU/RU/CN one.

Reading the blurb I don't know anyone who has a Skoda, let alone a Rapid.

If you have responsible friends who spend their money wisely, chances are you know somebody who bought the Rapid.

That first bit made me laugh.

That's me ;)

Interesting article though, thanks Bidey for posting the link. Even though you don't see that many Rapids around in the UK, it's nice to know that it has been a success for Skoda. It's also a salient reminder that this is increasingly a global business and car manufacturers are having to adapt to developing cars that will sell well not just in Europe but in China and India too.

Scotland seems to have quite a few Rapids about and also many as taxi's, which always speaks volumes for value for money and reliability ;<)

In this 11 months I've had mine I've only seen 4 Rapids in total. One of them was a taxi. All Toledos down here. That says something.

I live in retirement country (E. Lincs) and Rapid's are everywhere round here at the moment, and nearly all non-Taxi's, but I've seen 1 other Toledo since coming back to the UK 2 months ago.

I think I've only seen a couple of Toledos around here. ATM my local Seat dealer (which also does Fiat/Alfa and Suzuki) has one used Toledo for sale. I see other Rapids pootling about most days, but probably the same ones!

Totally mystyfying.   I've been in UK for four weeks -split between south coast and midlands- and seen only one Rapid -- a Spaceback - in that time either parked or moving. I've seen three Ferraris. And two maseratis -old ones I agree.    Very odd.  What are the UK sales figures?

From "How many Left?"

Rapid               7603

Spaceback       3587

Toledo              3995

I wonder how many of those non-Spaceback Rapids are cabs?

Either way, they need to sell at least another 17,000 in the UK across the three versions before Haynes will consider doing a workshop manual.

They fall apart on there own so you don't need a manual lol.

Having driven the current Polo, Ibiza and Fabia, I still prefer the Spaceback to all of them; slightly more room up front for the driver and in the back for passengers, plus a good size boot. Also rides that bit better too with the Golf IV suspension parts at the back.

I much prefer the seats and the higher riding position in the Fabia. If I could transplant that into a Spaceback, I would be soooo happy.
