I do a proper road trip at least once each year and multiple smaller drives to see friends in South Germany - it's great and I highly recommend it. Two years back I did a pretty epic one taking in 11 countries (covered in my project link in sig) over the summer holiday period - great memories and nothing beats it for 'bonding' with your ride. :)

I pretty much did this a little while back, absolutely brilliant and well worth it. Agree with a lot of what they say, drivers are much better on the continent, much better lane discipline. Looking to do it again maybe next year.

Would be nice to do a road trip like this.  Keep hoping that there might be a Briskoda road trip.

I think BossFox was organising something for May/June 2016. :)

Back in 2011 before I had the responsibilities of a child, Myself and the Mrs took a euro trip:

Hull to Zebrugge ferry (1 Night)

Paris (2 Nights)

Millau (1 night)

drive to Nice/Monaco and stay in Menton (1 night)

Cut across Italy to Lugano in Switzerland (1 night)

Drive up through Switzerland into Germany, up the B500 through the black forest and stay in Baden Baden (1 night)

Drive to Nurburgring, hire a Suzuki swift to go round the overhyped place (1 night)

Drive up to Holland via Arnhem to see the bridge onto Rotterdam to catch the ferry back to Hull (1night)

Cost a bit of money but was well worth it. Such an amazing experience. One to cross off the list

Things I learned

Switzerland is the nicest Country. Simply amazing.

France has the best motorways. But they get expensive!

Driving round the Arc de triomphe is a bit kamikaze.

Germany has the best rules and driving standards - Especially banning HGV's from the overtaking lane.

Once back into Holland we were back to being stuck behind two lorries on a dual carriageway as they try to overtake when going 1mph faster.

Our highways and also the driving standards with regards to lane discipline is so far behind the countries I visited.

Hopefully I will see the post nearer to the time.

Octavias are great for this. We drove from South West Poland to Dorset in one hit. Octavia shrugged it off. I think we put 4,000 miles on the clock in two weeks. The only thing I found was that about 120mph the diesel really seemed quite slow to accelerate.

yes, that must have really taken the shine off a euro road trip!

Currently in Strasbourg with the Yeti, been all around the Alsace region and off to Colmar tomorrow before heading down to the Black Forest for a week. Road trips rule! :) Met some lovely people, seen some stunning scenery and driven some great roads. Oh, and the only thing that's annoying is the slow acceleration from this TSi Yeti at 145mph! ;)

2000 miles driving. We did that round Scotland one weekend when we were young :)

Yeah, depends on if I remember to do it or not lol. Doesn't matter now as the car doesn't even exist any more!
