Central Locking Vagcom Tweaks

Featured Replies

Right, so I know all about the 2 stage unlocking, and autolock @ 7mph.

Is it possible to set up the locking so you need two key-presses to unlock it?

Im utterley terrified and unlocking the car by pushing the button whilst its in my pocket, it seems to have quite a range too!

Jono

Don't worry too much about it. The car locks itself again if you don't open a door or boot within (IIRC) 30 seconds.

Isnt it like mine whereby you need to press the unlock key twice to unlock all the doors anyway, and not just once for the drivers door?

As long as a door isnt opened the car will auto relock anyway.

Andy

IIRC, Octys are preset to unlock all doors with a single press. The can be set through the dealer to perform like yours though;)

Rob

You know this autolock feature in the car. Well I might pay the dealer a visit to see if I can get it installed in the car. One Question thought. How does it work with regards to unlocking?

f/scott it has another function which unlocks car when key is removed from ignition, jono sorry chap can't be done.

Thanks BigK. It' just like how the radio goes off then.

Just had this done today in my Octy. Works very nicely indeed! Will no doubt be disconcerting for passengers when the central locking solenoids go off!! :D

Does this work on the fabia too?

The two-stage unlock and auto-lock at 7mph?

More importantly - will it auto-unlock if the engine stalls? Don't really want to crash (heaven forbid, touch wood) and have the doors locked tight....

Howard,

I would assume the L&K had this enabled as standard ?

Sounds like more lazy dealers to me, as my RS came fully "switched on".

I was actually asked if i wanted any of it de-activated.

More importantly;), will the dealer charge anthing for the installation of it? What should we ask for just incase the words autolock feature prevokes stunned faces in the dealer too?

Stimps- I would imagine that it would be availible in the fabia since it looks to have a similar locking system and key to the Octy. I would also think it would be easy to get out of as with the locks when put down manually in the car can be opened with ( 2 pulls on the internal door handles. But I don't know that 100%.

No. Doesn't appear to be standard on the L&K (there was another thread about this somewhere IIRC). I think they come from the factory as one-shot unlock and no auto-lock, and you're right, Geoff - it just depends on the dealer whether they do the enabling as part of their PDI. I don't know if I was charged or not, as it was described but not itemised on my hand-written invoice (you can tell I live in the sticks!!).

From what I can tell, it should be a matter of seconds to do on the diagnostic tool, which they should have had hooked up anyway to reset my service indicator.

Colin - use the terms 'two-stage unlock' and '7 mph autolock'. If they don't comprehend then they need to go back to Skoda school - I use a *very* small dealer in deepest Cambridgeshire and they understood my request perfectly!

Colin - I was thinking more along the lines of a situation where *I* couldn't unlock the doors in the event of an accident - i.e. whoever came to my aid would find the doors locked...

Steve, if the side windows or cars were made with laminated glass I too would be worried and wouldn't have had it enabled. But if the smash was bad enough to have disabled me, I would have thought that there might have been enough glass damage to open a door anyway. And I'm sure the fire brigade come well tooled up for things like this.

Now if it was linked to airbag activation as well, that would be super-clever!!

My Clio had the same auto lock function but could be activated and deactivated by pressing the locking control button on the dash.

In the case of an accident. If the airbags are deployed the car automaticaly unlocks the doors, turns on the hazards and sound the horn as a safety feature.
