Dog Hammock

Featured Replies

Has anyone but a dog hammock in the back seats, if so where did you buy it from?.

I got the latest 'catalogue' from my dealers a couple of days ago and it went in the bin after I had flicked through it but I did notice that there was a dog harness in there which clips into seatbelt socket. I assumed that it was a 'new addition' to the Skoda range of accesories and it looked quite good.

You can get harnesses that clip into seat belts, had them in lidl or aldi a while back. Great idea tbh, to save doggies if some thing bad happens...

There was a new range of dog accessories launched in dealers and sadly at predictable prices.

What's odd, I am still tempted to get a dog, I've been thinking about it for a few years now and now I have the citigo I was thinking where could he/she travel. I'd concluded the back seat was the only viable place, not the front!

So I've sketched out a backseat den 'cage' secured by seatbelts. So his den 'cage' is secure from hitting front seat passengers. Kind of wish I still had the roomster though.

The harness thing sounds much easier and better.

Interestingly I recall seeing something similar on SuperSkoda

You can get them cheap off eBay. Best bet is to get a fabric cage as they can't get hurt in that

Im wondering could you do it up so as to fit into an isofix carseat base? So like a travel seat foe dogs that you harness themninto then lock into a base with enough movement to get their head out window etc, but you they are pretty well locked in for impact.. save the upholstery too!

I was thinking how can I leave the car with the window wide open, yet secure. Thus it 'the cage' has to be fixed so it can't be moved out of the way.

I hadn't thought about heads out of windows :P only a slight revision to the sketch for a open outwards (when door is open) option.

A iso carseat esq base would sort the floor and save the seats yes.

Dog travel in cars largely depends on the size and temperament of the dog There are plenty of companies that will make stuff to order and for varying prices.

My two cairn terriers travel like this equally well in the Citigo as do my Roomster:

there's a seat hammock that cost £6 from Lidl to catch the mud and they sit in little booster seats called Kurgo Syboxes that have a carabiner clip for harness attachment, one of them needs to see out or he gets car sick. hence the need to be raised up

I had this cutom made for my Octavia by Rhino

There's also these Isofix compatible soft dog crates, but I have no experience of them
