Stupid 1980's Alarm beep!

Featured Replies

Hello all!

Does anyone know how to turn the alarm beeps off for locking / unlocking? On my FL vRS it was in the maxi dot, but can I hell find it on my MK3! Am I being daft??

Thanks!

it's on the infotainment settings

Press the car button on the infotainment and the option is under the locking and unlocking sub menu....."acoustic confirmation". Take the tick out of the box and hey presto.

The car has key memory so do it for both keys if you use them both.

I rather like the alarm chirp myself, not even an option to set on the Mk7 Golf so have asked the supplying dealer to try and code it for me if they can.

Can enable it with vcds easy enough mate

I love it. Nice little "old Skool" blip. Reminds me of old Scorpion alarm days. Cat1 on my Clio 16v as the factory glovebox immobiliser was a bit poo. But as has been said, can be silenced easy enough.

Can u activate the blip sound without factory installed alarm?

I like the old school blip too, reminds me of the Moss alarm I had in my Ford Escort.

You can code in the same thing but it uaes the car horn, similar to a v quick parp of the car horn rather than the chirp yo get from the alarm siren.

The other reason i like having it on is that it gives the alarm siren something to do on a daily basis....they are prone to failing if they just sit there completely unused for months on end.

So I gather....funny my loaner GTD was in with VW the other day (no fault of the car....it was serviced by a non franchised dealer before I got it by my fleet dept - well done - and theyd not installed the oil filter properly :-S)....i asked them to code the alan chirp for me and couldnt do it....guess VAS isnt capable.

hahaha Moss car alarm I had to laugh because I remember Moss & also Sparkrite  :D

Don't forget Foxguard!!

And Clifford. If you were a flash git.

what about Toad

I have a toad fitted to my Elan m100, only had one false alarm in five years!

Had a Doppla fitted to a 309 GTI. Like a Scorpion, but a bit cheaper. Them old Harry Moss alarms!!! Bet they made a killing on them early doors before people started nicking cars with them fitted. Remember the "modular" format too. You add on pretty much everything from the basic interior light triggering it, to sonics, rock sensors, cut offs etc. just keep adding stuff on.

Sigma made great alarm systems too....still going part of the scorpion group i think.

....a mate also had a fully featured Clifford on a car....remote start, proximity chirp, blackjax....was v cool in the day.

The Octy is actually the first car I've kept it enabled. On all my previous cars it's been an annoying honk, but on the Octavia it's rather pleasant. And I can easily hear if I've locked or unlocked the car without looking at the lights.

Heh. You young guys talking about the 'old' car alarms!

I remember being real fancy and fitting an alarm to my Mk2 Cortina 1600E which was a key operated affair. By 'key' I mean i had to drill a hole in the bodywork and insert a keyhole which was the On/Off switch. It had the usual door/boot bonnet contact switches but in the alarm unit was a pendulum with contacts at either side - if the car was rocked or bumped the pendulum touched one of the contacts and set the alarm (horn) off.  Great. Especially on a really stormy night. Every - two - minutes!!

Ahh, but we were happy......

Selmar! That was it! Just remembered!
