What did you do to your Non Skoda today?

Attempt #2 at posting this, in the *right* thread this time.

Discovered that it has a coolant leak. Damnit. From the water-pump. Double-damnit. Also discovered that the starter button has stopped doing what it's supposed to, so my 3/8ths spanner has now got some fun new scars. Hooray.

On the bright side, I've gotten a new battery-box welded up!

To fit in place of the old one...

Well, what's left of it. :giggle:

Hoping I'll have enough time, after work, tomorrow to get it fit in, fettled, and welded into the truck. Also going to move ahead a little faster on some parts of the new electrical system than I was planning...

Ouch...

Ouch indeed.

Fortunately (if I can say that), I bought it as a Cat C in November as a project. I am now weighing up my options!

One battery box, sort-of welded in. Still need to bridge the gap between the solid bits of the cab floor, and the now solid metal of the battery box. But it's strong enough to hold the battery in place where I want it to be.

...then I ran it out of fuel in the best spot to get stuck: blocking the entrance to the compound where all the customer trucks get put. Cue pushing it around with a fork-lift, getting the fork-lift stuck, getting it unstuck with an Escort van, accidentally pushing the truck into a fence -- I think the fence came off worse -- and eventually getting it parked up so I could lock up the workshop and go home.

All in all, not a bad day.

EDIT: Now with video!

Took the wheels off it...

...with the intent to take the brake drum off.

I'm kitten knackered, filthy, sore all over; and the sodding brake drum is still firmly attached. The last of the three drum-retaining screws is fair seized, I'm going to have to get some heat into it over my lunch break tomorrow.

It's fair enough, really, though; I wouldn't be surprised if the wheels hadn't been off at any point in the last 25 years or so...

Man, those things are heavy. (9.00-20 on split-rims. Yummy!)

Couldn't get the drum off. Turns out the whole hub has to come off to do so. Decided I didn't want to mess with that, and put the wheels back on.

(Easier said than done. Forklift involved so I could get the damn things back on the wheel studs.)

True dat - its not like you spend most of your time posting links to reviews that make your car/ car you want look like the greatest car ever made, and refuse to accept anyone elses opinion .. :p
