Skoda Diesel Engines - VW Emissions

Featured Replies

As Skoda are owned by VW - Have the Skoda diesel engines been been built with the same inherent emission dodging software that is affecting VW ?

Isn't that 2009 onwards?

Irrelevant WHY !

My Mk1 TDI's have Skoda diesel engines (VAG Manufactured) fitted and may have the same software installed.

Irrelevant because as already stated by multiple posters, the strategy/hardware for emissions control wasn't relevant on the mk1 Fabia... nor the Mk2 from what I believe! If you have a read up on the actual issue you'll understand that. :)

Ha ha - I blame coskev and his big nozzles.....

(so to speak)

The issue only affects VW 2.0 16v CR diesels from 2009 onwards.

So glad I hung onto the now 10 year old Fabia VRS..LOL

The more knobs and whistles there are, the more that can go wrong ??

Nothing went wrong.

Vw programed the software in the cars to give better results when being tested.

Because the 12 year old lump in a VRS is less damaging in terms of emissions than the current crop of units? ;)

And worth noting that no knobs or whistles have gone wrong. Someones added a few lines of sneaky software in to the emissions control area of the ECU.

In this situation, the difference between UE and US law about MOT testing is that in UE is measured only the smoke opacity for diesel engines.

Don't you mean EU? :p

Yep, it was pretty late, my brain was frozen. I am sorry about that.  :dull:
