Front Parking Sensors

Featured Replies

Hi

I am returning to the Skoda family!

i have just bought a 15 reg Octavia Scout DSG. this car did not come with front parking sensors.

I want to have some fitted BUT, I want them connecting properly into the ECU so they show on the display.

Anyone know how this can be done?

The dealer suggested a local Auto electrician, but his would not be integrated into the Skoda system.

My previous car a SEAT Leon FR had factory fitted front & rear sensors and these were obviously integrated into the system. I would like the same on the Scout

any advice would be appreciated.

Hi

I have purchased a kit, which includes wiring to connect to the head unit, I have had them colour coated and I am waiting for them to be fitted. Its not going to be a cheep job, as well as getting them fitted and connected you will also need a new switch bank [as the one that was in the kit is for LHD!] that replaces those inform of the gear lever [to turn them off/on].

I hope to get them fitted in the next month along with rear camera, which I need to cut a bigger hole where the tail gate release is.

So it is possible, to purchase, but if it works - I will see. there is one point in me giving any details yet if it don't work!!

if you are still interested I will update this thread.

Thanks for the reply Steve.  Not sure why they miss the front sensors off I find them very useful in the SEAT. When reverse is selected, both back & front come on, different tone beeps back & front also with lights showing on the picture of the car on the screen. If I want front on I just need to push the switch, again both come on and then go off once the speed is above around 10MPH

I got a set off Ebay for my motorhome, they cost me around a tenner painted in white!. I did not want a display just the beeps. I wired them via ignition without a switch thinking whilst travelling nothing would trigger them. They were fine until it rained!! then I got constant beeps!  I have now installed a microswitch which is operated by the gearlever in first & reverse.

The dealer advised me the Auto electrician wanted £250 + VAT for a standard set with a separate switch! I would have paid that if they were integrated into the rear setup.

Thank you for that.

It has been a while since I used the forum, so was struggling to find my way around. I tried but was unable to find how to update user name.

Thanks again

You are probably best finding a VW group retrofit specialist, the nearest in my area is:

Although at £550 just for fronts (£670 for front and rear), a bit too dear for me at the moment!

Wow! £550 is a bit steep.

I fitted a set to the front of my 2014 Motorhome ( have a camera for the rear). The set was less than £20. I did not want a switch on the dash so initially wired them through the ignition. All was fine until I was out in heavy rain and the beeping never stopped. i have now fitted a micro switch operated by the gear lever in first & reverse.

For my New Octavia Scout, I would really like them integrated to the factory system. (My. 2011 SEAT Leon FR170 has sensors back & front)

I'm rather disappointed that the front parking sensors and Xenon headlights were not standard fit! My car is a 3 month old ex Skoda management car and as Scouts are rare, I did not have any choice with factory fit options.

I tried but was unable to find how to update user name.

Maybe I should have also pointed out that it's one of the enhancements that Freedom members are able to manage on their own.

Also, I seem to recall that Eddie-NL has fitted the front sensors to his car - amongst a lot of other upgrades! Have a look at this thread.

Wow that looks good, it certainly looks like the mods I require are possible. I have added a post asking for more info.

Many thanks for the info John999boy
