Congrats :D

Have you not got a black headliner in yours?

I say grey but yea it is black I suppose. Does satin black match ok?

Did you paint the switches on yours?

You got me thinking then so I went and checked. Fabric is grey but plastics are black.

I'd paint it black, yep. Satin black should look fine.

I've just painted the fascia black but unsure if I should paint the switches as they are illuminated.

Does anybody know if the switch faces can be removed?

Quite interested in this, can someone provide me with an idiots guide to what I actually need to do this mod?

Is it a straight swap, if not what do i need to do, can I use my existing led bulbs?

Thanks

I did the home-made w8 made on my mk1 Octy, and just mounted 2 x red 12v LEDs into my existing unit (behind the diffuser glass) so it was a bit dimmer than the proper w8, but just managed to do the job.  Back in the simple old days I then just ran a wire back to the headlight switch.

Have you picked up the parts for this yet Terry? Definitely worthwhile and you can use your existing light unit and swap it out with the current rear one - so they get map reading lights too :)

Ooh, blast from the past! Didn't think of this one; I've got the original front unit kicking about in a box in the loft so I can see myself doing this when I have a spare five minutes. ;)

Out of interest, Langers, did you get round to doing this mod with the parts I sent you?

Not yet, it fell to one side slightly while I was doing the led conversion and folding mirrors. Just looking out for a good value Skoda unit to install now.

Fair enough... if it makes you feel better, I didn't get round to it either for a good couple of months!! :giggle:

Took me a little while to find a unit too. I just kept searching 'superb breaking' on ebay until I got a hit.

I read about the DIY option and thought how easy it would be . Might get round to it as just driven a Golf that had the red down lighters (Cat vision) or what ever its called
