7 Degrees this morning: Got your WINTERS on yet?

Featured Replies

Is that a surprise or unexpected?

It is January in Britain!

It is Winter, and it is what happens sometimes, in Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn and again in Winter.

  • In that case you (and I) are going to die in an exploding ball of fire in the bottom of a snow filled ravine, having slid off an ungritted ice-covered road due to us not having spent £800 on a spare s

  • Im sorry, but that is the sillyest thing Ive read so far today. Ok granted, Im used to a totally different winter than you, but no matter how good a driver you are, summertyres is outright dangerous

  • In a lot of the UK we can have an entire year with no snow and ice, and for the few days that it might happen I can just leave the car on the drive. If I lived in a more rural area with worse weather

The Snake Pass always gets closed so quickly :( shame as it's beautiful around there, especially after a bit of snow :)

It does doesnt it. Its usually the Snake and the Cat & Fiddle that get closed first around here.

It is lovely yeah. I like riding it on the bike in summer.

I wouldnt like to be risking the M135 on that road in the snow though :D.

I used to cycle around there before my tendons went a bit funny :D nowadays I'd take the Vitara up there if I was driving in the winter :)

-2 here at the moment.

Gritters out again last night. Cars well frozen up this morning.

Can it be summer again please?

From late October to late March if I DON'T see a gritter, it's a Dear Diary Moment.

And are you referring to the same summer where for the majority of the time I go to work and it's hovering around 0°C and am greeted with the Warning of Ice bong??

Should probably move away from Glasgow then :D.

I couldnt live there. My hobby relies on atleast a little sun.

I keep thinking of riding up to Scotland for a ride around, but the weather puts me off bothering :D

Glasgow is West Coast wet Scotland and not that cold a place,

come visit up the sunniest parts of Scotland the East Coast & the North East Coast, where it is cold and sunny and the roads are

fun. (Avoid the potholes though.)

It is still February and the Winter Fuel is in Filling Stations till the end of March, the Lambing Snows have not arrived yet,

and the skiing season is really just under way so the best roads over the mountain (hill) passes and cleared as soon as possible every day.

Lovely weather, and just the time winter tyres are needed, until after Easter maybe.

Some of the best road for biking pass through the Ski Centres and other minor roads lower down are fantastic.

Then you can never go wrong through Glencoe (Trunk Road, so if it can be open it is.) and you are passing the Ski Centre and plenty of Hot Drinks and Food available there or at the nearby Hotels and Hostels.

Cheers George! Ill keep that in mind.

Itll take 4 hours of motorway before i even get anywhere near, so id prob spend a night somewhere n do it over 2 days tbh.

Not got a route planned yet but ill get somethin together at some point!

Cheers! (:

Look forward to meeting you, just get to Perth and me and others will set you off on the best roads and provide you with

Deep Fried Pizza & Irn-Bru.

This next 2 months can be the best of all,

but midweek anytime of the year in the Grampian Region gives great driving / riding.

Awesome scenary - awesome driving roads!

What car?

What camera u using?

Reminds me in my convertible with my go-pro a couple of years ago in Scotland :)

Just links taken from Youtube, i would not film my self driving.  My favourite roads though.

This is doing the opposite direction during the last day of a 10 day heat wave March 2012

and 12 hours later the roads were closed with blizzard like conditions.

(& Glenshee / A93 last February, Scorchio.)

The first one leans a little more in the corners than even my SE Fabia.

Must be a bike then :D

Weather Warnings tonight & tomorrow for Wales and Scotland,

so a chance for some to get use of those winter tyres just after the start of the meteorological Spring.
