Cheat Software, Tuning boxes and remaps

Featured Replies

Will my DTUK tuning box adapt to the VW 'fix' for my Skoda 2.0TDI Yeti ?

Or will I have to trade it in for an update for the same cost again?

Time will tell, I guess.

It's all speculation ATM but if you have to have the ECU software changes and it defaults your remap out of it.

Will the tuning companies re-insert the original map for free?

What do tuning companies offer now if during a service at a dealers your map is wiped off by a campaign software change?

Or do you all never take your cars to the dealer whilst you have a remap, even in the main manufactures warranty period?

I like the STS box option as you can put it back on yourself but assume all other remaps are a trip back to the tuners if it needs re-inserting etc

Yes nearly all Remapers will put your Remap back for free.

But just do not let any Dealer do a Software Update / Service Campaign on your remapped vehicle, there is no need to,

and you likely have no Manufacturers Warranty on engine / DSG failure anyway since you have had the Remap done.

Taking the Map off before putting it in for a Service Campaign is unlikely to make a difference if you were making a Warranty Claim,

the Non Factory Software was still done, and that can be detected, and if you are making a Warranty Claim you are asked to make a Declaration.
