Had the gearbox fall out of a borrowed short wheelbase 2 door one.

 

Quite embarrassing explaining to friend's mother that her car was probably a write-off due to the very expensive damage we had done.

I had a friend that had 15yr old one stored with under 8,000 miles and zero rust, sadly we lost contact, I had never seen a rust free one.

Sad that they are down to a one-car model range now (the other models sold under the parent company name). Still has a very romantic and emotional brand name in my opinion. One of the greats at the start.....

This feels like a wake, what have I started? This is a pretty one, not one of the later fugly ones. (well to be fair, prettyish, if you squint a bit)

Over here (Irl),  these - well, the saloon-hatchback version especially- evoked the same line of jokes more associated with Lada.

(you know - why they have heated rear windows and what you call one with a sunroof etc... )

They haven't sold them over here for a long time -

 

In line with Wile7's comment - Hard to beat the 1920's models (the amazing Lambdas)!  Some of them even made into armoured cars then, as well - rather than rust buckets !!
