Heat shield clip damage

Featured Replies

So, something of interest you may find

The exhaust heat shield below the car is clipped in, one of the clips (possibly more) is broken and I was told this is a common fault

Apparently 3 in 5 or may have been 6 Citigos get this problem, it's an issue of the clip being a wrong size so it is replaced under warranty with a clip that fits, on the service sheet it says:

Exhaust heat shield broken around clip - this will be covered by warranty.

So when your car is next in for some work it may be worthwhile just mentioning this if it's still in warranty

Got mine done when I had it. New shield and fittings:)

Can this shield/clips be seen by peering under, or does it need a lift? Thanks.

You'll need it up on a lift to properly inspect it, but if you look under, in the centre you'll see something shiny almost looks like foil, that'll be your heat shield

Thanks, next time it is out I'll have a look.

Read this yesterday, noise from under car today, busted heat shield round 1 clip. Clip itself fine.

Strange coincidence???? Mine is being replaced under warranty today!!!

For reference it started making a "clonk" noise under the driver's seat on start up.

That's exactly what mine did till I bent it away slightly.

This was highlighted at my last service.

Im the second owner, and although its got full main dealer at the same dealer history Im pretty sure my 3.5 year old car isnt under warranty and he guesstimated a 150 quid or so for new shield and clips but advised it was fine to drive and only worth doing if it annoyed me.

Ive just spent the world moving house so Im just going to leave it as is  :S

Just collected mine...................all done and £135 on warranty claim.

  • 3 weeks later...

Wife's 3 year old Elegance was in for service and 1st MOT today, it has to go back in 2 weeks for a new heat shield under warranty, shame they don't keep them in stock!
