Yeti - 'Best Used Car To Buy'

Featured Replies

Isn't the word "sister's" superfluous?

Darn it - I knew there had to be a flaw in my argument. Just as well someone was paying attention.

I still think I can sum up my views on this quite concisely:

Don't give a poo* about the defeat software, the fix for it or ethics from VW group, do give a poo* if it costs me money, time and effort in selling my car.

It's not hysteria, it's annoyance at the result of VW's deception, I'm sure many companies do it but they haven't caused me a problem. It all has no bearing on my choice of next car (a diesel Yeti, hence me being here). It's perfectly sh*te timing for me unfortunately as it was too late to cancel my order (if I'd wanted to) but too early for any fix to have been implemented and/or public concern alleviated before I try to sell my current car.

*damn profanity filter.  :|

^^^ is it too late?.

Considering VW's position, they'd have to make allowance for your position surely.

Some are not sheep and have opinions if that's ok,of course some know all about sheep don't they.

Baa!

I have a feeling my "Ignore" list is going to get bigger!!

Well all the paperwork was signed and build order submitted etc back at the start of September, I probably could push to cancel it but then there's technically no problem with the car on order so I wouldn't have much ground to. I just need VW to hurry up with all the details of what they're going to do, I figure I'll have to sell my car in December realistically - before the fix starts being implemented. This, I imagine will likely make it more difficult and be used as a reason to knock money off!

Actually yours is an ok version isn't it.

They aren't selling any of the affected ones are they?.

Yup, the 150tdi, it's fine and not a concern. My concern is the SEAT Exeo ST 170tdi I currently drive that will be making way for it!  :D

I'm getting my 'threads crossed'.

So many implication and circumstances to consider.....makes ya head spin.

Just so there is no misunderstanding....

I'm not saying that VAG are an innocent party in all of this. Obviously they aren't. What they're actually guilty of as far as my UK spec and UK based car is concerned, I have yet to find out - from anyone that actually, really knows.

I think Skodas are great - loved my Mk 1 Fabia vRS and all three of my Yetis. That said, I think SUK are appalling when it comes to customer service a lot of the time - I'm still waiting for answers after three months to two queries. Luckily I have a brilliant dealer.

My point is that any actual or perceived reduction in allegedly infected VAG secondhand values is created by 'the trade'.

The trade is probably, in my humble opinion, using it to make a quick buck with trade in values.

The fact is that other manufacturers are more than likely failing to attain the emission levels, when on the road and in the real world - but like VAG, they passed the tests...

I think if I was about to trade in a VAG product against another VAG product, I'd be insisting a good, non affected trade in value. If I was intending selling privately, I'd switch tactics and part ex instead, insisting on a decent deal after contacting SUK....

Like house prices, 'the market (sentiment)' and liquidity determines prices.

If the public has doubts, stocks rise and dealer prices are forced to drop to finance their debt level.

Even dealers go out of business.

I have just traded a VW tiguan in for my Yeti and the tiguan was affected, Its all very well CAP and glasses guide saying there prices are not affected but i am sorry to inform them that although they say the car is worth x amount its hard finding anyone that will underwrite it at that price. My tiguan booked trade value was £9400 but the dealer said the best price they could get from a list of traders was £1000 under that, Some wouldn't even touch it Why, because of the emissions and although VW have confirmed that they will fix these cars its not going to be for at least another 3 months at the earliest and no one will know if its going to affect MPG or BHP so are people going to stay away from affected engines Yes they are.

^^^^^^No speculation there then, looks like no px deals for some months to come.
