Car failure of the day!

Featured Replies

Seen this elsewhere, just like the other threads what annoyed you whilst driving today except it is what has broken on your car today.

I suspect I may be one of the highest posters in here because French :P

Clio - Slight rear brake leak I noticed today as well as shot rear wheel bearing

Never had that on a Vauxhall !

Never had that on a Vauxhall !

Because a Vauxhall doesn't make it far enough to ruin a bearing.

had to order a new ashtray as the current one has become full.

Might just get a reconed one as the window still goes up and down, which I can live with for the time being.

My bonnet stay clip broke on my Sierra, I managed to prise one off a Ford Ka before we took tt for scrap, luckily it's plastic and not at all rusty.

I just got an old 306 d turbo as a running fixer upper and just keep finding bodges done by previous owner

One man's bodge is another man's "repair" :D

Yep like the 2 cable blocks and a piece of twin core that i managed to use to extend and reconnect the reverse switch on my old car so the light came on to pass its nct in 2011 :D

Previous owner had installed a boost gauge in top glovebox and only thing holding it in there is plastic pipe, (getting removed)

It had also had fuel pump tweeked and turbo adjusted apparently, on further investigation its had turbo control valve bypassed so it basically doesn't have a wastegate control,

so i put my foot down and get a big ploom of smoke out of back then it sets off then bogs down as its over fueling that much,

back brakes unseized and new handbrake cables, shoes and cylinders fitted,

washer jets unblocked,

new NS balljoint on order

I drove a 68,000 mile, full VW service history, 6 year old 1.9 TDi Golf yesterday, after just 40 miles and not exceeding 3000 rpm, it knocked number 4 big end out.
