Featured Replies

My old MKI Superb was sold in December 2010 will approx 90K miles on it, it currently has

  • 266,237 miles

and requires a MOT in the next couple of days... not bad going!

Check in a few days to see what it's mileage really is now!

  • There is also the tax checker, which you can use to show when a car was last taxed.   https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax

  • A Red, first registered January 1973 'BMW 2002' i had in the late 70's now show's as having a current MOT, Grey and with under 27,000 miles. '5007 FG' I would certainly like to see it!

  • And the trying to remember old reg numbers begins.. Dad had an 04 plate focus 115bhp ghia he got rid of in 07 with 80k on the clock. Nice to see thats still going. 155k on it now.

My old Fabia vRS shows as having 93K miles now, I sold it with 35K miles in 2010. Glad they have made good use of it!

Could be 5 owners later by now though. Cant find that bit out :(.

My SV has done 25k now n i sold it with 18k on 2 years ago. Surprised its still going, the bloke clearly had no idea how to ride a bike, struggled to even set off.

It was also immaculate when i sold it. Ive a bad feelin that its fooked now lol.

Hahaaa. Wondered how long itd be before someone found some clocking :D

I looked up my old cars and my second car, which is now 17 years old has just gone over 15,000 miles... Hmmmm... I bought it with more than that on it. However, the dash instruments started playing up before I sold it, so I wonder if its had a different one in since.

Just adding form my pearoast.

1st car - Astra 1.3 (1989)  - Dead. Not even in the system

2nd Car - Astra 1.6 16v (1997) (can't remember the plate), assumed dead.

3rd Car - Focus 1.9td (2001) - dead

4th car - Clio 1.5 dci (2003) - dead

5th car - Octy VRS (2007) - MIA, new owner must have put a private plate on it.

My old 1993 Kawasaki ZXR400 is still going though, but I'm sure the mileage is lower than when I had it 10yr ago.

My MKI Fabia vRS (SE04MWU) was on 125,177 when tested on 19 September. It must've had a short spell off the road as the anniversary was 30 July.

My current car is not in the system! Should I be worried?

Yetis aren't real, didn't you know?

Is it on a private plate? Like I mention above mine comes back with the same message as yours if I put my private reg in that it has carried since June 2014. But if I put its normal reg in it comes back with its MOT history.

What years your car?

Has it had its first mot yet?

Ok another update on mine...... Seeing as when I put my private reg in with Skoda as the car it comes back with nothing but gives the history of my car when I put its normal reg in I thought I would try putting my private plate in and then go through the other two manufacturers of cars that have carried the plate since I bought it 13 years ago..... Hey presto when I put it in and select Lexus it comes up with the history on my last car that I had before the Superb!!!!!

Now the weird thing is when I put my private reg in the normal DVLA vehicle checker and put Skoda it comes up with all the correct info for the Superb........ What the hell is all that about?!?!?!?!

It's a 2010. It's had two MOT's. It's not in a private plate.

But, it is on its fourth number plate. And has been on this one for a year (and been through MOT & insurance renewal and tax with me).

Tried all the other plates? Aha.

Maybe the first one is most likely?

My dads old A4 is still going at 180k!

I don't know them!

If the checker doesn't recognise the current plate, what will the ANPR checkers come up with?

No idea.. But theres enough of those around to think youd have probably heard about it by now if there was something wrong

Got the HPI check from dealer you bought it from? That shows em up. I had similar issues with our Jag that had been through 5 personal plates

I've had the personal plate on my last 5 cars but on the mot checker it shows it 3 cars ago on a car I px prior to needing an mot and it was a bit strange at the time driving onto the forecourt to pick up the new Octavia blackline with both cars having the same number plate ,so once I had driven off they must have mot the old car using the reg that was now on the Octavia .

Exactly why I'm not too concerned as I know I have driven past three of these in the past two months.

More curious as to why I can't check the history on a vehicle I own...

I got a quick 'Auto repl'y to my Email to VDSA on the 20th questioning why the MOT records are showing my vehicles MOT passes over several years,

but also many fails and passes of another vehicle of the same make and colour in other Test Stations in another part of the country are coming up on the same records.

They said they would endevour to deal with it is 5 days and may pass it on to the appropriate person or team.

So i assume they have done that, and sometime i will hear from them.

'Currently experiencing a high level of enquiries'.

I bet they are!

" I don't believe it !"!

My deceased dad's old  1972 VW Type 2 (Sold in 1990) has got a current MOT (But quite a few previous fails).

Nick

My current car is in for MOT today.....

Checking online I knew the MOT was complete and passed OK, even before the garage even called me back!

Lovely when systems work isn't it!

My 2005 Citroen C2 that I sold in December 2011 is still going, although sounds a lot worse for wear. One of the advisories was 'rear springs held on by cable ties'

Sounds safe..

I was just thinking (yesterday) you don't see many C2s about these days, then I saw one with a bean can exhaust. I suppose most VTRs and VTSes have been ragged to death - Saxos are even rarer.

I think they stopped making them around 2009/2010. Think the DS3 was its replacement.

I still see plenty of C2's around, although usually only the standard ones, and not many VTR or VTS's as you said. For a while when I was 17/18 when I had the C2, all I wanted was a 125bhp VTS, thought they were amazing! Then came to my senses and bought a Skoda instead :)

I used to be part of the C2 owners forum but last time I looked at that there wasn't very much activity at all.
