  • There is also the tax checker, which you can use to show when a car was last taxed.   https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax

  • A Red, first registered January 1973 'BMW 2002' i had in the late 70's now show's as having a current MOT, Grey and with under 27,000 miles. '5007 FG' I would certainly like to see it!

  • And the trying to remember old reg numbers begins.. Dad had an 04 plate focus 115bhp ghia he got rid of in 07 with 80k on the clock. Nice to see thats still going. 155k on it now.

It is good - I must admit to spending a bit of time yesterday putting in a few old reg plates and checking on old cars....

Not surprised, my old citroens are dead. Although one seems to have lasted 100k more than the garage said it would when trying to get a new head gasket out of me. Was servicing it before a sale ;)

This is really interesting, years after I sold it  one of my old Corsas was failed on numerous things, a year later was retested and failed on more things with around 2,000 miles more on the clock, a year later it was tested again and then  passed with another approx 2,000 miles on the clock with 1 advisory..........WTF

Confused, you will be.

Some how a car i own and have MOT'd twice in the past 2 years with no failures,

but it has had according to the site had 7 Mots done in the time i have owned it.

Correct Colour, wrong mileages, Clone car sometimes retested with a lower mileage than when it failed

it shows by the registration of my car that it has  failed the 3 MOT's but that was not my car,

So the Clone has failed 3 Tests and then passed twice on retests.

Loads of failures and advisories on the car that is not mine, but coming somehow mixed up in the History.

I must have a word with DVSA / DVLA.

Do not check your current car....(unless it is newer than mine)

Mine had these Advisory notice problems for 3 years

  • Reason(s) for failure
Offside Rear Direction indicator incorrect colour (1.4.A.2f)
Exhaust emits an excessive level of metered smoke for a turbo charged engine (7.4.B.3b)
Nearside Windscreen wiper does not clear the windscreen effectively (8.2.2)
Offside Windscreen wiper does not clear the windscreen effectively (8.2.2)
  • Advisory notice item(s)
Nearside Rear Direction indicator slightly discoloured (1.4.A.2f)
Nearside Front Suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement (2.4.G.2)
Offside Front Suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement (2.4.G.2)
    Non obligatory mirror damaged

What is a "Non obligatory mirror"....?

And the trying to remember old reg numbers begins..

Me and my dad spent about an hour yesterday trying to find a piece of paper with the reg of is old M reg Audi 80 on to see if it still lives r not. My mums old Citoren ZX is dead now. It was scrapped by Phillip Wilks Skoda straight after we traded it in because it shows its last MOT as having less miles as the paper that was given to us by the dealer, so they must have scrapped it. No real surprise though, it was scrap.

Remember how many cars got a MOT done so that they could then be scrapped under the last UK Scrappage scheme.

This site has been updated with MOT history added.

It gives you car details, Tax and MOT status, tax bands, too.

Nice find, just checked to see if both my old fabias still going it seems

My old Rover 100 which passed every year I had failed big time after I sold it by the looks of it.

My 03 and 06 Octavias are doing fine, both on 160k miles.

Both my old Superb MK2 and Octy MK2 are still going strong and on considerably more miles than when I sold them.

My previous 2001 A8 (which I still know) is currently sitting unloved in Scotland being used as a parts car to keep another one going. MOT expired this year, and it had 199,200 miles on the clock when the steering rack went which is not an economic repair because its an engine out job.

My 2001 vRS met the scrap heap in 2012 at just 99K miles, sadly after I sold it, it eventually found the edition 38 crowd and its last owner carried out some lets say interesting mods. I nearly bought it back in 2012 to restore it, but pulled out at the last minute so it was sold instead to a breakers for parts. All it needed was a new clutch and DMF, new front wing and the interesting mods removed.

Hehe, seems my old carb-engine mk2 Golf passed with just rear beam bush advisories, on 218k, in April. Looks like it'll make its 25th birthday in the spring.

Wonder if my current one will have such an easy time of it next week...

My old astra is on 130+ dam i miss that car lol

Just checked mine, lots of failures, nearside headlight always out of alignment, must get round to doing something about it :D

hmmmmm a querk I've found....

My current car does not come up on my private plate but only on it's normal reg (Which isn't it's original reg as it was on the original owners private plate from first registration). It only carried it's normal reg for approx 6 or 7 months when it was between owners..... i.e. between it being traded in by it's original owner and waiting for me buying it.

Now it's normal reg is what it had it's first MOT on but it has had an MOT since on my plate. So it was suggested that it goes on what reg the car was on at it's first MOT.... So I try my old Fabia vRS which was on my private plate when it had it's first MOT..... Guess what... That only shows up on it's normal reg... Basically nothing comes back against my private plate yet others say theirs come back fine?????

Umm! Interesting... My old Octavia (BG55 KXJ) was on 219k miles when I sold it in Feb 2014.

2014-02-14%2012.58.15_zps2uzztezr.jpg

The VCDS log showed it on 219064 miles:

Big bro who I sold it to, kept it a couple of months before trading it in & he did a further 5000 miles - taking it to 225k miles.

Yet miraculously it has lost 8000 miles by March 2015:

:s

Hahaaa. Wondered how long itd be before someone found some clocking :D

Just checked an old Passat estate we used to have. It was my company car from new in 1999 so we purchased it for the wife at 3 years old with full VWSH, 1 careful driver (me), 115k on the clock.

We sold it a few years later with 215k on the clock, according to this site last time it had an MOT in 2007 it had 112k on the clock!!!.

Someone somewhere has been somewhat dishonest.

Doesn't show my cars at all bahhhhhhhhhhhh

My old MKI Superb was sold in December 2010 will approx 90K miles on it, it currently has

  • 266,237 miles

and requires a MOT in the next couple of days... not bad going!
