Has anyone had Bridgestone ones on or have the original ones been changed? Need to check as these don't seem to have much grip especially in the wet..

Same tyres. Same 55 reg. It appears that ALL 55 reg cars come with them at the moment

Good to hear, no probs then!

Anyway, I'm probably going to be buying a new set of tyres and I'm thinking of Toyo Proxy TR-1s. How much could I get for 4 of these tyres with approx 4k miles on them?

My 05 came with Turunza ER300's - bit noisy but good enough for me

It was a right pig trying to find a replacement when I ripped one though.

mine is 05 and I have the conti's.. I like em!

05 Reg - same tyres, seem ok. Not the best in the wet and a tad noisey but they'll do for now

54 plate ContiSport II's.........fantastic tyres

May '05 and mine are Bridgestones

March 04 and Michelin Premacy originally (before I swapped wheels). Good wear rate but not surprising as they never warmed up any to give decent grip

Reckon you might get £40 odd a corner on eBay for them. Nothing ventured, nothing gained :)

Continental Sport Contact II

Terrible in the wet but other than that they are great

Mine came with the Bridgestones as standard.... March 05 car.

Don't like the noise, wet grip, screechy in the dry and no rim protection. Otherwise they are great!

Pirelli P Zero Neros going on this week though!

I thought the conti's were good on a hot dry day, but a waste of time otherwise. Just bought a set of wheels with the turanza's on, and find then much better than the conti's. What tyre pressures are you running. I have 35 psi front, 32 rear. No problem. Not as good as the potenzas though i might add.

Not a fan of the Contis either, but some people swear by them

This is based on the original Conti SportContacts though, fitted to my last car. I put these on after a pair of Avon ZZ3s and smoked it out of the first junction I came too. I was a little surprised to say the least  Compound was far too hard for me, and were more sensitive to camber change etc. And much less grippy, but I expect they'd last forever - didn't have the car for much longer to find out though :)

Things may well have changed on the ContactSport 2s, but that's put me off Conti as a brand now.

That wouldn't be from the Kwik Fit 4 for 3 offer on Pirellis that I've heard is starting end of this month?

Hi

I got Conti Sport Contact II s with my October 55 reg car. I like the grip wet or dry, but they are a little on the noisy side. They also took over 1000 miles to start producing decent grip in the wet. I can usually get away with full throttle in second on a wet road, provided the surface is otherwiase clean. Having said that, with the layer of salt, grit and dampness making a slick black film over everything, no tyre has much grip out there at the moment.

Chris

Conti Sport Contact IIs on mine, getting them again to replace the ones on the front that have done 23k-ish now. Rears are perfectly fine.

The Contis are not cheap though. Performance in wet & dry seems fine, they must have been improved since v1 I suppose.

Completely agree with Chris' post just above, grip seems perfectly reasonable considering road conditions. I don't do track driving so not a clue how it performs on the edge/beyond the edge :D

Michelin pilot primacy on my June 05 VRS.

Great in the dry a bit slippy in the wet, seem to be wearing ok at the moment.

Got Bridgestones on our 55plate.

Couldn't believe how noisy they are- loads more tyre roar than the 225/40/18 Goodyear Eagle f1's on my Golf.

Can't really comment on grip levels as I don't get to drive it day to day, but I've not noticed a lack of grip in the 5-600 miles I have been allowed to drive in it!

My 55 plate came with Conti's

55 plate vRS , contis, noisey(ish).

june 05 and mine came sport contact II i find quite good in the dry and reasonable in the wet so far theyve done 10000 mile and i reckon theres another 10000 left on them im quite pleased with them

May 05, Bridgestone Turanza's on mine.

They're noisy compared to the Michelin/Conti shod cars I test drove, but seem to grip OK. I'm gonna replace with Goodyear Eagle F1's as soon as they wear out!

A mate has an Ibiza FR with the Bridgestone and that's even noisier....
