City brake/adaptive cruise control in a manual?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Maybe a silly question but not been able to find a answer

So have ordered a manual (God knows when it will come...) and in the event that either the city brake or the acc kick in, will the car just stall if in the wrong gear i.e in 2nd gear and then the city brake is triggered then I assume my reaction would not be able to depress the clutch quick enough to avoid the stall?

Sorry if a dum question and clearly not an issue for the dsg people

Cheers

I have front assist on my Octy 3 VRS and it has started to brake for me only twice in 9 mths. I would like to think that it could indeed shall the car however watching the EURO NCAP YouTube crash test of the Superb, right at the end of the clip they do the collision avoidance test.

Can't remember the results as it was quite some time ago and I had had a wee bit to drink when i watched them....

Hope you find what you are looking for as I for one would also like a definitive answer on this but haven't the balls to trust my system to avoid an accident.I know our is different to what the Spüren 3 had but they are based on the same framework.

I have a superb mk3 manual with front assist and ACC. The ACC works very well even on a manual and where traffic is slowing I just need to use the clutch and drop down the gears as the car slows and stays the appropriate distance and I have done this from 70mph to a standstill.

If you are in the wrong gear and there is possibility of stalling a warning Beep and message is displayed telling you to change gear.

I was nervous at 1st to trust it but it works very well.

Goods to hear, I wondered how the AAC world deal with a manual gearbox. Does or brake for you hard, medium or all in emergency stopping?

Just curious to know that's all.
