Real World MPG figures

So did you try what I suggested?

What did you find?

What is your typical vehicle use when doing errands? Stop, start, sat waiting with the motor running?

Do you track the fuel you put in?

Have you tried fuelio or such like?

Have you tried watching the instant and average fuel figure on the maxi dot?

  • How's this for a 1.4act manual, Amesbury to Staines, 65 steady miles with about 12 miles of 50mph road works. Car set in eco mode.

  • Really??

Modern engines need very little real 'running in' and are unlikely to improve that much. Owners are reporting figures well below the worst case performance where the cars are failing to show mpg figu

Holy f*ck!

So now I've had my 2016 S3 HB 150 TDI DSG for few days and today I drove to work in normal conditions and I was positively surprised!

I got an amazing 60 MPG on a 32 mile drive with an average speed of 45mph and speed limits varying from 40 mp/h to 100 mp/h.

On my 1.6TDI Leon MK3 I got usually 62-58 MPG

I am getting 67 mpg  (41 miles@51mph) on my commute to work now that morning temperatures are up (on the way home it is a bit less 65 mpg). Last tank is showing 63 mpg.

Yeah, well I converted to US MPG.. Since why would MPG be the same, right? Of course you guys have a different gallon than US.

And the rest of Europe calculates how many liters in 100km (62,13711miles).

So my consumption was 60 US MPG = 72 British MPG = awesome!

Been doing a few longer runs in the new Superb estate (150 bhp Diesel) and am very impressed with the mpg. Albeit stats are taken from the Skoda Connect app so may be some margin. Car has now got 1,400 miles on it so I’d expect further improvements over the next 9,000 or so miles.

Wednesday last week saw 239 miles at average speed 49.7 mph and 60.1 mpg!

Yesterday saw 207 miles at average speed 43.5 mph and 56.5 mpg

long term (since new) mpg  51.4 . This does of course include a fair bit of time sat with the engine running trying to set the car up to my liking.

But the best thing is the range! Since refuelling I’ve covered 681 miles and the app shows a range of 100 miles still. I hate refuelling so this Range is definitely a massive upside of the car.

Just to share my numbers... Superb estate 150 TDI, just over 3000 km on clock.

city run - 17 km, 32 km/h, 5.1l/100km -> 55.4 mpg

highway/local roads - 246 km, 66 km/h, 5l/100 km -> 56.5 mpg (full trunk, 2 people)

best I saw was 61 mpg when I really tried to drive economically.

recently, it became pretty easy to reach 5.5 or so even on shorter journeys if traffic is fluent...

I’m driving my 280 AWD carefully and the last 2500m I’m showing 37.5mpg. Managed 40.8 on a 250 mile trip to Stansted and back. Pretty pleased in context of the car it is.

Makes you realise how good these things are on fuel for their size. My 150 TDI Manual SEL Exec averaged low 50s not being too careful with it, and I'd see over 60 on a run. My new Volvo V90 D4 auto (190bhp 8 speed) gives me low to mid 50s on a run, and averages out in the mid to high 40s tank average!

Well, still going with fumes..

Kuvan kuvausta ei ole saatavilla.

Have driven now 900km and still around 20% left of full tank.

Gonna top up soon and do the math..

What is the rush to refill? You have the equivalent range of a full charge for some EV's :)

I've had my car 7 months 2016 2.0 TSI 220.

The car is so awful on fuel the best I have got was 46mpg when I first bought it in Wakefield and travelled back to London and put the adaptive cruise control on at 70mph. Dual carriageway cruising 40-50mph I get 36-39mpg

Anything in and around town has been 23mpg or less regardless of how I drive and I drive in eco mode and my green score shows 100% and especially in the past two months I am only getting 15-18mpg around town cruising no traffic. Honestly this car is horrible on fuel.

That is pretty bad.  I have the 220TSi and it's done 32.5 over the last 13k from new.  I only drive 10 miles each way to work and am pretty hard with a couple of blasts.. can do 43mpg on a good run and some tanks will do 35-37mpg..

around town has been 23mpg

exactly same values, current year's refills vs km:

l/100km;  MPG.uk

13,2 21,5
12,8 22,0
12,1 23,4
13,3 21,2
12,7 22,3
12,5 22,5
12,0 23,5
13,1 21,5
11,6 24,4
11,3 25,0

for first half can be take away one liter cause Webasto auxiliary heater

Alright, now I finally refueled my 2.0 TDI 150 HB and with some basic math I came to the figure of 4,97 l / 100km of average consumption in variable roads.

The onboard computer said it was 4,5 l / 100 km.

Conversion to UK MPG gives a value of 56,837 MPG

I am still on the opinion, that this is a rather good reading for a car this big.

Yes, I have been flooring when overtaking cars and not driven like an old lady :D

Yea see I do 8 mile each way to work and back and i use A roads 30mph and dual carriageway 40-50 and I stick on the ACC still only get around 25-28mpg. The other morning I did get 31mpg that's the best I've seen in recent times otherwise it's generally around 23 in town now and 25-28 on dual carriageway run which is around 20-25 minute journey when clear and 40-50mins when busy.

190 TDI, trip to Bristol/Somerset/Wales. Mostly in eco but still happy because of the holdups, traffic, b roads etc

Just back from trip to France with my '16 190 Tdi 2wd combi manual, 2285km/1420 miles with roof box and 5 on board. Around Paris twice in standstill traffic, lots of toll road 130km/h, frequent 30 min trips at 80km'hr, overall calculated 48.45mpg.
