Octavia - Noisy Aircon (Droning) - Warranty claim?

Sorry to drag up an old post, just seeing how you got on with the regas as mine is making a similar noise to all those described above.

Hoping a regas/Skoda air con service will solve it.

Worse than ever now, really annoying noise.

I think it is bearings on compressor or similar - regas didn't really help in the end, but was needed (low levels)

After an aircon service the noise of mine seemed to disappear. All seems good up to now.

Update for my June 2016 post, mine is better since regas, less groan and drone but it is still noticeable sometimes when coming to a stop / engine idling. It then seems to go away again after revs increase. Not sure if engine noise just blocks it out or if lower engine revs mean the noise occurs due to lower compressor rpm. Think the latter.   But overall, it is reduced compared to before when it seemed to be doing it all the time.  AC performance still seems good.

Well I'm booked in with Skoda for an aircon service which includes a degas, anti-bacterial clean and regas for just under £50.

I don't know whether or not to mention the noise and see if they highlight it during the service to avoid them going straight for diagnostic charges as mentioned in a previous post. Thoughts?

A quick search in Skoda Parts lists the aircon compressor at £700! Installation probably another couple of hundred on top of that.

I do have a 12 month "platinum" RAC warranty with the vehicle and after a quick skim through does appear to cover climate control if worst comes to worst. Fingers crossed it just requires a regas.

Dealer prices are ridiculous!  If it needs a new compressor /drier etc go to a good independent.  Prices will be cut by about 50% ;)

Good news!

Regas and service solved the noise, all is good, the aircon smells fresh and is chilly.

Thanks Briskoda community!

Thank you guys a million times, I have been enduring this noise for two years, humming noise when ac is off. Today i got a ac refill, was at 140grams(but did cool), refill 530grams, now there is no nise anymore. I thought it was a skoda issue. Thank you very very much!!!!!!
