Skoda Octavia III Columbus Nav Update AUS

Featured Replies

I purchased a demo Skoda Octavia III 2014 Model with a columbus stereo. It has 2013 Australian maps and I have been struggling to get any updates.

I tried talking to the dealer and they just tell me that there is no available update and even if there was they would have to use a special code to install it. I have downloaded a version from a forum and that didnt work and I just purchased an update disc from these guys http://www.navigationau.com/latest-navigation-disks.html and that didn't work either.

Is there a viable Australian map update for the columbus and if so how do I get it and install it?

I am in Newcastle and there is a new bit of freeway on the way to my parents in law which has been there for over a year and I still cant see it on my GPS.

Help please

Not sure what the latest maps are for Australia, or what version you have at the moment.  Do you have a maps version number?

Ah, just clicked. You have an Octavia 3 so the maps version you downloaded wouldn't work. That would be for an Octavia 2 which is a completely different unit. The dealer is the only place to get maps updates, or through the dealer network at least.

You could try inpytting your VIN here, see if it allows you to get an update.

Thanks Rustynuts I have tried the update portal without success.  After looking at the version numbers  of the rns510 units I figured out I have a discover pro head unit. Seems like you need an SD card to update maps on these. i bought a demo and never got the SD card. Maybe I can buy one after the fact? :dull:

The european Columbus is updated by downloading the maps from the portal, and just extract it to a Sd-card. Any card will do as long as its big enough (32GB I think).

The update for Columbus can be done with an SD-card, USB stick or even portable hard-drive.

It is Amundsen which requires a special skoda SD-card.

I think the only hurdle to overcome is to get the correct map data (with australia region code).

Have a look for the other navigation update threads from last May.

I think from the European update portal there are 2 sets of map data (Europe and RoW (rest of world) but if I remember correctly they dont work on the australian unit.

The downloads are not linked to VIN so you can find a direct download link in the other threads (usually from AndyVee).
