will call them tomorrow and hopefully hear some good news........

Sorry to hear that Huck, it really takes the shine of the "new Car Experience" when something like this happens...

I have to admit, you're being more patient than i would be :)

can't complain really geoff.

horners are bending over backwards to source the problem. i've no need of the car at present as i'm still 'recuperating' ;) from my appendix op ( back to work next week. boo hiss! ) so all is fine and dandy.

if it gets worse in terms of what may be wrong, then i wil start getting a little peeved.

I don't suppose they've fitted the fuel pump the wrong way around ?

When I picked up my Octy vRS up from the dealer, it had standard plastic Steering wheel rather than leather, the Stereo wouldn't work and to top it all it had a rather large dent in the rear wheel arch (never pick a car up in the dark) (and never assume that it's going to be perfect even from a skoda dealer). Needless to say all is now fixed, and although it was a real disappointment at the time, everything is OK now and I wouldn't part with my baby.

not so far from the truth as it happens....

car is fixed but couldn't get full story over the phone as i was holding my screaming 3 month old daughter. i'll get more details when i go to horners later. what i did pick up though was some pipe had been put on the wrong way round!

They didn't let some of my firm's Cornish plumbers loose on your vRS did they? :D Sounds just like the kind of thing they'd do when installing a sink unit.

Well the car's back! :D

I'm not at all technical and I've forgotten even the smidgen of info. that I was told.

It was something like one of the pipes for some charcoal thing had been put on the fuel return instead.

Apparently Horner's are going to report this to Skoda as it was obviously a potentially dangerous manufacturing fault.

All sorted though and I'm happy ( apart from the clean they gave it - useless! ):D

I guess there's a non-return valve in the said pipe that was facing the wrong way... glad it's sorted, though, Huck

sorry to hear about your car Huck glad you got better service though than i did at my local dealership :(

The charcoal thing is probably the absorbtion filter on the fuel tank breather -it stops fuel being vented to atmosphere. The injection system has a return pipe for unused fuel, which goes back into the tank.

It sounds like the return fuel was going into the charcoal canister. This would have very quickly saturated the charcoal, and produced something like a Molotov cocktail under the car.

Nice! the ultimate security device, maybe? Or your own afterburner? (with the emphasis on the "burner":D
