Multifunction Camera - Quality & do you get one standard?

Featured Replies

I am about to order an SE L Estate and want to know if I should spec an assist system (& at what level /entry point) which uses the Multifunctional Camera (MFC) as it's reference point.

My question, does the Superb come with a MFC at top of windscreen if there are no fancy light/lane assistant options selected or fitted as standard?

Secondly, are there two or more versions of the camera unit itself so as to be able to provide basic functions in lower spec, while higher image quality so it can follow road markings and read sign posts etc?

My reasons, if the VCDS gurus can figure out software coding to add things like Lane assist, HBA and Traffic sign assist (+others etc), the quality of the camera output may also reduce its control Modules programmable settings, and therefore the basic camera would limit any future upgrades considerably.

Any thoughts would be welcome and if backed up with solid proof even better. Minimum assist function which uses an MFC rather than a light sensor is Light assist with HBA at £250. I won't spec it if it is not needed but would for the ability to add features via VCDS later.
