DO dealers do labour discounts on older cars

Featured Replies

Do skoda offer, reduced labour costs on on  cars  older than 5years,

Reason I ask is that used to take a car to jaguar and because I didn't want to pay silly prices from a dealer they offered 40% discount because car was over 5 years old, is was hopefully to stop going to a independent garage.

This way turned out cheaper  and looked good on service book.,

I didn't realise they done it, was only told off previous owner, its kind of kept on the quiet.

Do you mean Skoda Dealerships or Groups?

They might well do,

some things like National Pricing and offers were only on Vehicles over 3 years old.

Just ask who ever is doing the work.

Skoda Dealerships are a fast becoming extinct thing,

and sometimes a VW Dealership undercuts a Skoda Dealership even when part of the same group.

Non participating Dealerships will quite often better those 'Fixed Price Servicing prices by quite a lot,

eg

Parks of Hamilton.

Yes, for example we got a 4 year/ 40000 mile (major) service on our MK2 Fabia Vrs for £157 instead of the simply fixed price of £259, carried out by Parks of Hamilton but to achieve that price you must book direct via Parks Group website rather than over phone or in person at the service desk.

I wouldn't let Parks service my lawnmower ;) .

Good thinking well expressed,  a 1.2 HTP is pretty much like a lawnmower.

I suppose if you don't ask you don't get

I've never asked them to, but in fairness our mower is electric. I use them not through choice, but because they are our local Skoda dealer and easiest for us to get back and forward to, and we have to use Skoda for servicing at the moment to keep the extended warranty intact. I wouldn't claim they were brilliant or anything remotely akin to that but needs must, so they fit the bill.

Plus they saved me £102 on the price quoted by Skoda themselves and that can't be a bad thing.

Sorry, it was a tongue-in-cheek comment. I bought my car from Sharks of Hamilton Parks - I fell out with them as a ) they left my car on variable servicing despite me only doing 4,000 / 5,000 miles a year (no harm done as I got the car serviced annually anyway) and b ) despite numerous attempts to purchase an extended warranty with them the buck was passed around and no-one got back to me (I then contacted Henry's who were only too happy to help - Henry's therefore got the servicing work as well).

b ) above is the reason for my unhappiness - I was giving them the servicing work despite it being more convenient for me to go to Henry's (I can leave the car with them and walk to work).

Worth trying. I got a hefty discount off a cambelt change at one main dealer as I'd had a quote from an Indie But then 18 months later I returned with a minor fuel leak on a rubber hose Rest of story is on here, but £320 for a 50p rubber hose made me wonder if I was driving a 1.4 Skoda, or a McLaren supercar
