Ours going on later in the week too....including the MX-5

Went to put mine on this weekend... need smaller nuts. Hopefully some arrive before the snow :)

As I live in sunny Gloucestershire I shall be waiting until daytime/evening temperatures are down to a reasonably constant 7C or less before swapping to my winter tyres/wheels. The forecast doesn't show that will be happening until after next Saturday at the absolute earliest.

7-8C is not when winter tyres magically work, it's when summer tyres begin to fail.

Having seen the forecast saying it will be 3-5 degrees next weekend, I thought I'd change the cars over while it was still a pleasant 14. Amazingly, despite the scorching temperatures which did not fall below the 'magic' 7, I did not find the cars standing over four pools of molten rubber this morning.

Seven degrees is just when winter tyres are noticeably better. The crossover range when the two are more or less the same extends quite above that, which is why you're ok driving on winters here most of the year around.

Oh I have already got them all sorted out with winter wheels/tyres, and the important shed load of extras that get dumped in the boot for the next few months!

Put mine on 2day also. West coast of Scotland is rather cold and wet!

Temperatures still in double figures here but looks like they're starting to drop below 7c from Friday onwards.

Apparently the hallway can't be a permanent home for the winter tyres or the alloys once the winters are fitted ;)

Whos told you your nuts are too big? :D.

Might swap mine over at the weekend

pmsl... mine are kept in the kitchen! :)

we have some all seasons coming this week for the abarth too :) they will be staying on all year. Ash cant be assed with swopping round, and doesn't want different alloys, she spent ages finding an abarth with 595 alloys! lol... going for maxxis AP2's , a brand new tyre from them, they were in a test recently, and outperformed the two premium brands on snow!

was out in german last weekend and picked mine up from my brothers bearing in mind last time i was out there few weeks back it was -3 and snowing.  Fitted them an drove back that night, temperature in brussels was 18c at 1am ....lol

Which is why that is approx. the temp. at which I remove my summer tyres. Car goes better with tyres on so that's when I fit the winters.

Mine will be going on at the end of December, will still be 10-15 degrees around here until then.  I'll be back from Prague then too- they know what they're doing over there when it comes to correct tyres!

in czech they mostly just leave the winters on all year...

Compulsory from Nov 1st to March 31st. "If the roads are icy, snowy or slippery" - which isnt your decision to make but the road authorities.

So, they are on. On both of the Fabs.

I like that idea.

I'm in the borders unfortunately.....

What a beautiful day for Winter Preparations before tomorrow.

Tyre Pressures checked & Set, Door Rubber Seals all treated, Windows Inside and out Cleaned and Rain Repellent applied,

Rubber Mats in, cars aired and dry inside,

Winter Wash all topped up & extra carried, Antifreeze Ratio checked, De-Icer and Night Before De-icer Stock checked etc etc.

Time to go in enjoy sunny dry roads before some late Autumn cold weather.

Forecasts of Warmest November since records began was obviously aimed at some of the UK and in the first couple of days,

or at the most 2 weeks.
