Servicing schedule - confused.

Hi,

 

i'm new here and just picked up my 11 month old Octavia with 11,100 mies on the clock. The independent dealer i bought it from said it was on flexible servicing and would need a service at 20k or 2 years whichever is the soonest.

 

Thought id check with my local skoda garage who said, No you need to go ontp fixed servicing which means its due this month.

 

Now i dont know which is right. I dont want to shell out £179 if i dont need to, but am happy to have it serviced if this info is right. The service manual doesnt really shed much light on this! The relevant (?) no in my service book is QI6 if that helps.

 

any advice much appreciated.

Q16 is fixed 10k miles servicing, but the Octavia can on to variable 20k or two years. If you get the car serviced at Skoda garage ask them to change the service schedule to variable.

Mine is on PCP and set to 10k at the end I will get the schedule changed.

I don't think this is right - QI6 is flexible (according to the official Skoda workshop manual) - see the attachments on post number 3 on this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/355687-service-specifications/

 

My understanding was all UK spec were originally set to QI6 / flexible - my company vRS was QI6 but i've change to fixed and our leased scout it QI6 so flexible.

But it could have come from the factory on variable, and been changed to fixed by your dealer at PDI time.

They all come from the factory on long life servicing.

Check what your service indicator says

Hold the long button below the maxidot until the word 'Service' comes up on the maxidot then release it.

It will then give you the mileage left and days left  for both the Oil Change and Inspection.

 Also Skoda dealers have a habit of switching the factory set variable servicing to the fixed regime before delivery at PDI

If you plan to keep the car for while, do annual 10k mile servicing.

The clean oil will keep the turbo healthy and your engine in good condition.

20k mile servicing is to keep the fleet companies happy, and they dont mind if the engine blows up after they sell the car.

Even easier, look on the infotainment unit under Car > Settings

My reason for changing the company car from flex to fixed, as maybe an option to buy the vRS off them in a few years (if i've looked after it!)

My Skoda Octavia 1.4 TSI DSG is one year old. The display advises "First Oil Service" at 4000Km or one year. It is one year old and has done 4200 km.

The service agent has told me that this entails an oil and filter change, and a "Small Service". The oil and filter change I can accept, but I could not get any explanation as to what the small service is, or why it should even be necessary. The service manager would only repeat that I would get a print out of what was done afterwards. The fixed charge quoted is: Oil €60.   Service €150.

Has anyone else had any experience of this?
