Columbus Sat Nav

Featured Replies

We have a Yeti Elegance Greenline which is now three years old, each service we ask the Dealer to update the Sat Nav, each time we are told that there is nothing issued yet

We Have Hardware H08

SW-5218

Map Version 7918

please please please can someone point me to a legitimate loctation that will show what the latest versions should actually be for the vehicle

I have read 7918 is v.9, and i'm seeing v13 advertised, but I'm not managing to link the values to ensure I am looking at the right location(s)

The VIN is TMBKT75LXD6041198

We've had the BS that it can be updated with an SD Card, yet the site dosen't want to allow that VIN data, so it looks like the need for DVD maps

BTW

Has anyone installed the GPS world camera database, know of any links that will explain whats required

Only post November 2014 Amundsen's are eligible for 3 years free map updates that's why your VIN does not work.
Never seen a Columbus but are they not updated via CD?

AFAIK the only Skoda Sat-Nav that can have speed cameras added are post May 2015.

Yes, I do understand that my model is not one that the SD card can update, which leaves the DVD route

Still trying to find authorative information that says, this is what has been issued so far, My dealership I believe is lying to me about their ability to update (theres a distinct lack of engagement, being fobbed off every question that has been raised), i'll buy my own update from v9 to v13, if that is actually what i need. I'd be foolish to buy v13 if v14 already existed, hence asking the question

If you know the correct DVD to buy a version or two old will usually be much cheaper.

How muck longer do we have to wait for home WiFi updates direct to the vehicle via the VIN and subscription.

What an archaic system we have instead.....it's a clumsy ripoff!

Theres the Rub, How do Identify what is the correct version !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, its what I am asking all the long, how to identify as the layman without the backup of VAG to identify what actually is the best information.

I could go and buy a tyre, but at random without knowing wheel rim size, my chance of sucess is small.

Beside, buying old is NOT a safe investment when governments spend millions changing routes, hence the reason for updates (I might as well buy the 2016 Road Atlas)

V13 is the latest version, it will show as map version 8348

VW Part number is: 1T0051859AK

The map upgrade on the RNS510 Columbus is chargeable and not free like the new MIB based units.

Upgrade is done from DVD, which you can download yourself (google is your friend) but you'll need to use a dual layer DVD as it is a 5.7GB download for western europe, or there is is always eBay.

Do not post any links to these downloads, as they will be removed.

The same map DVD is used regardless of if its the VW or Seat RNS-510 or Skoda Columbus.

The dealer would need to order the DVD ROM from Skoda as an accessory/part, it is not downloadable using dealer equipment.

For speed cameras, check this guide.

very helpful, where in general could I go, should I want in the future to seek the next upgrade, ? is it formally announced anywhere ?

Keep an eye on here, someone will post info about the maps but in general its around October/November time for each update.

I updated the link to the speedcams in my first post, its easier now than the original link and attached instructions here.

You'll need to use google to search for the software as the download links are different.

OK, I appreciate the feedback.

The dealer having to order the disk is a new wrinkle, we were promised that map updates would be applied when available at service as we purchesed the comprehensive servicing package, no where was it ever mentioned that they wouldn't do that in service.

I hate lies for the sake of a sale, we were going to buy the vehicle anyway, no need to make  a promise, they had no intention of keeping

I wonder when we will get the recall to fix the emmisions (having been notified our vehicle is affected) ho hum :)

Then you need to order from a Skoda dealer who will probably charge much more than you could get the genuine DVD from eBay or other buyer.

Google will find "Genuine Skoda Columbus map update dvd V12 2015 - £21.95 - £36.95 This is the very latest release with EU speed cameras/ red light cameras and 7 digit postcode search.""

Yeah, ebay is always great for over stating the obvious, wish it was better regulated the keyword spamming isd really bad with some members. I've learnt to research their, but I don't always buy the cheap option if it dosen't have support. The very latest v.12 dosen't help when I know v.13 is out. Now got the cams installed, and since new had 7 digit postcode search as standard, just need to fix for driving across fields

They play ' thimble n pea' with speed cameras in Vic, but my TomTom gives me free lifetime updates via inbuilt SIM card including traffic.
