Brayley Kia Enfield. I need someone's help

Featured Replies

Hi guys, the wife has been bursting my head for long enough about wanting a Kia Sportage, I wanted her in a Yeti or Tiguan but she was having none of it and I've gone and paid a deposit on a top of the range Kia Sportage, 3 year old, 30k miles.

Cars in Enfield, I'm in Glasgow, I'll be instructing my mates work ( big car transport group ) to collect the car for me next week and I was wondering if anyone on here was local and able to swing past and have a look over it for me, sales man has bee decent enough so far but I'm just a little concerned about buying a car totally blind.

It's an approved Kia dealer, so should be spot on.

I know it's really close to Xmas but if anyone has a spare 20 or so minutes and fancies a few beer tokens let me know. Just want someone to go have a look, check condition of car, tyres, body, wheels etc, just to make sure the dealer ain't selling me a lemon over the phone.

Many thanks

I will be up in North London over Christmas but I would be VERY reluctant to comment on whether or not a car is in good or bad condition; what EXACTLY would you want comments on?

I could probably take and email you photographs if that would be of any value?

Is there a link to the particular car or have they removed it?

for such a big purchase surely worth an AA inspection or similar?

That's for all the replys guys, woke up and have changed my mind, I'm just gonna book a flight and go deal with it personally. It's an approved vehicle so I'm sure it'll be fine

Awful lot of car for the money with all the toys and a 7 year warranty. I can understand why your other half wouldn't consider anything else.

About time VAG and a few others looked at their standard warranties and equipment levels IMO

These other brands Kia & Hyundai are sneaking a nice little bit of the market.

Good luck with the purchase.

Just be aware that with Skoda an Approved Used Car might have 'Workshop Checks',

but that does not mean, 'The Car is Serviced' unless the Service is due, and sometimes not even then.

So maybe before you go to collect the car, even though it is an 'Approved Used Kia', have them service it with a Major Service,

to Manufacturers Service Schedule / Guidelines.

& have fun.

We got a Kia over a VAG as there was so much more value for money. Asian cars coming in fixed trim levels makes it so much easier to buy used. I will also say I bought my Subaru (ex demo) blind over the Internet. When it was delivered, I test drove it before I paid up for it as normal and there were no problems with that.

Just make sure it comes with the balance of the warranty and that it hasn't been dropped due to incorrect maintenance.

Thank you, Particular model we have went for is the Sportage KX-4, 2.0 4WD 181bhp. Has everything I'd want in a car, Bi-xenon's, front and rear parking sensors, with rear camera, park assist, front and REAR heated seats, heated steering wheel and loads of other stuff that I can't really remember but that was the stuff that made me think, why couldn't VAG do this. Again the biggest factor for her is the remaining warranty.

My Octavia is 3 & 1/2 year old and it's already cost me a fortune on stuff that shouldn't go, only done 70k miles, granted as a taxi but the build quality is poor, I've had to have the gearbox refurbished due to an annoying drone in 4th and 5th gear. Approached Skoda and was told not a chance as its never been serviced in a dealer they couldn't confirm if the mileage was genuine which I was offended about.

I may look at the Kia Optima's as my next taxis when my current cars are due to be replaced.

Merry Christmas

Yeah totally understand what you mean, I've confirmed with them and it's on its third service and most recent one was September of this year. Should be okay on that front.

The problem is I'm paying cash and if I was to go ahead and buy it " blind " I'd have to pay for the vehicle before collection from my transport company. So I'm just going to collect it in person now and save any problems that may arise, hopefully none!

Plan on heading down around the 30th, flight down is £45 and a taxi from Stanstead is £50. Fuel home will be around £60 at most I'd imagine. Prepared to pay this as transporting via my mates work was £250.

Merry Christmas

I've currently got an optima '3' so if you want any info let me know. I've been told today that the new optima has arrived at my local dealer and it isn't a patch on the current one like mine. Apparently the styling is not as sharp and the interior feels a lot less comfortable than mine. I'm going for a drive in the new year so will see.

Had a quick look on AutoTrader and Optima 3, 62 plate with 30k miles for £12,000...... Why didn't I buy this before the Octavia. I do like the Octavia but having seen the spec in a 3 year old Optima I want one now lol

I had a look at an Optima with my father-in-law last weekend. It's a really nice looking car (he loved it) but try as I might, I can't get this image out of my mind:

You want a facelift model like mine. So much sexier (front led fogs) and the dashboard cluster is yummy too.

Update,

I decided I wanted to go check the car out, and thankfully i did. Car was described as immaculate and it wasn't. Got a flight down from Glasgow and called them on arrival to Stansted to let them know my ETA, arrived to find the car dirty, it had been valeted by what could only be described as a blind man! OTT on the tyre shine which as a result was all splashed up the side when they had taken it for fuel, opened the doors to find the interior a totally different colour from pictures we seen. We seen black, it's more of a coffee colour. Plus it was bogging inside. It's going into my mates tomorrow for a full detail.

Started looking over the car and yeh It did look mint from the outside, untill i spotted a little excess polish hiding a deep scratch on the O/S/R 1/4 near the roof, ON further inspection the outside was fine other than a couple bird craps and dead bugs between the lights and bonnet.

Goes back over the interior to find a small ( less than 5p size ) hole in the leather on the rear bench, rear bench was also loose on both sides, also several deep scuffs that will require the panels to be replaced in the interior.

Overall I was disappointed to say the least, but the wife wanted that particular car, it was the KX4 she wanted, definitely had to be white and we couldn't find another anywhere similar to it, so we bought it. Was originally advertised at over £16000 but in the end I paid bang on £15k. The sales manager was absolutely fuming that all the stuff went unnoticed or not declared by sales or valeters.

Overall experience from Kia Enfield, 4/10. But FairPlay to the manager for discounting the car to the point they apparently lost on it.
