Leaving light switch on

Featured Replies

Happy new year everyone.

In order to drive with lights on

I have to put the light switch to the 3rd position.

When I get out, a bell sound reminds me

that I have not put the switch to the first position.

Otherwise the light would stay on and drain the battery.

I would like to always have the switch in the on-position.

(I think that to see and be seen at all times of the day is no real disadvantage.)

...Without any noise warning me and without the battery getting drained.

How would I have to rewire the citigo?

Illegally in the EU, where you must be able to have your position lights on at any time!

Retro fit a replacement light switch with "auto" position and a photoelectric sensor???

Or just do like i have done in every vehicle ive driven for the last 14yrs at all times of the day.. get in, turn key and throw the light switch to fully on. Turn it off when getting out... it takes 1.3seconds...

This, I have autolights, if I recall leaving it in the headlight on position leaves the lights off when the car is switched off, but turn them on when I turn the car on

You could still have them on, via the side light position, the OP, I think was after a way to leave the headlight switch on, and have it turn the lights off with the ignition. Our main car does this, 3 position switch, off = DRL's only, side lights = side lights on no matter what position the ignition switch is in, main beam= main beam on with ignition on, nothing on with ignition off.

OP, why do you want to do this?, the DRL's are quite bright, is it for the tail lights as well?, if so I *think* there is a way with the vagcom software/cable to do this.

Having switched from Mercedes A Class with automatic lights, 2 weeks ago

I still find it irritating to have to fiddle around with a light switch every time I start / stop the car...

Yes, and I even managed to leave the lights on for about 5 hours

until someone gave me a hint.

That's old age coupled with lazyness...

:-(

When was the last time you had your hearing checked? :)

Or maybe your lights on warning chime is not working ...
