Bikes inside

Featured Replies

I am currently looking for a new car and one checkbox is being able to put 2 adult 27.5 mtbs inside as easy as possible. I know I can put them on one side one on top of the other in any hatchback, like I am actually doing now but there is the risk of broken spokes, bent derraileurs etc. So I'd like them to be upright. Taking off the frontwheel and saddle is not a problem. I oriented myself towards Ford C Max initially which is a little longer but then I received a much better offer for a Skoda Yeti.(both new). What I like at them both is the modularity, I will be taking the middle seat out from the beginning since it is just me and my wife. Ideally I would have 2 bikes and one rear seat still available but I may just be a dreamer. So anyone has any experience about fitting bikes inside Yeti? Thanks a lot

LE: I will also be travelling alone in which case I only need place for my Mtb or road bike

Although I transport my bike on the outside - folding Koga Twin Traveller tandem - on a purpose made Uebler rack which fits on the towball,  there is a Skoda internal fit for a single or double bike rack which would suit your needs.

A variety of available racks are here - Internal Bike Holder - Observations & Pics - Skoda Yeti - BRISKODA.net.

Happy biking.

I take the back seats out and they both stand upright I have no spare wheel just have to take care you don't catch the roof lining the driver seat is well forward and the front wheels drop in just behind the front seats I then strap them to each side

Thanks for your responses. The first image is not very optimistic, there is no way to have 2 bikes likes that across the diagonal.

@valep: so if I understood correctly you put your bikes with front wheels on? If you take out only the middle seat can you put one bike? Thanks a lot

I have only used it for the two bikes but I do not think you would get the one bike in with the other seats in and if bike is dirty may make a mess off the seats I use a cover over the back of the front seats

There is a Skoda bike rack that fits inside the Yeti with rear seats removed (or possibly folded up, I'm not sure).

I'll see if I can find a link to it.

Hello

I have the Yetti TDF and had the internal bike rack as part of the deal, I used it for several trips on the way to sportives with a fellow rider, its good but you need to take all the seats out as the bikes (adult road bikes) have to go in diagonally.

Now I just take two seats out, and put the bikes in length wise wile the rear wheels just reaching the middle console with the front wheel taken off , I then put the seats on the other side of the boot which acts to stabilise the bikes.

Much quicker and I dont have to leave the seats at home.

Oops - sorry !

Hi,

Thanks for the responses and sorry that I didn't give any feedback. I actually realized I will ever put only my road bike inside which I'm sure I'll be able to put it somehow. I put it now in a much smaller Hyundai I20. After this winter holiday my wife got the taste of real MTB-ing and we did some serious off road trails. At the end the bikes were so dirty that I couldn't even put them in the garage. There is no way I will ever put the bikes inside the car. I decided to have the tow bar installed and I'll buy one of those tow racks for 2 bikes.

Regarding to interior space. Yesterday I went to a dealer and got into an Yeti. I am rather short 5ft7, long legs, short torso and arms so I had to pull the seat quite forward to reach the steering wheel more comfortable. I also prefer a more upright position. So with the driver's seat like this I went in the back and pulled the rear seat as much as possible. I still had enough room or at least not less than I would have in a low cost flight. Somebody on the forum, in another post said that there is no way for an adult to stay in the back with the seats pushed forward. But it worked for me and I think even someone taller would have been ok.  Has anyone else carried passengers with the seats pushed in front as much as possible?
