If you are paying with your Cash Money then it is a 'Minor Service' that is due.

If on Fixed Servicing 9,400 miles (10,000)  372 days.

 

'They', should have used Long Life oil last time, but no Service was due then, and the cars can be on Variable Servicing (Oil Filter Changes.) with Long Life Oil is used.

Had it done toady it was a minor service and they confirmed that they also did a minor service at 3k when I bought it, I'm really happy with that as it's had two services in its first year and I think that can only be a good thing especially when the engines wearing in and likely to have small pieces of metal flowing round the engine. They told me its next service is due at 20k or 12 months so all good.

What did they charge?

 

A minor service should be no more than £139, it is after all only an oil and oil and filter change.

 

Also, the next service in 12 months / 20,000 miles time will also only be a minor service.

 

Air, fuel (diesel), pollen filters and spark plugs (petrol) are not changed until at least three years old / 60,000 miles.

Pollen Filters are regularly changed at 2 years.

When cars were Fixed Servicing it was Minor Service and Major Service @ 2 Years, (20,000 miles), Pollen Filters Replaced at Major Services.

It varies from model to model, some are two years, most are four years.

 

The pollen / cabin filter is actually included in the minor service, but as with the major service everything outside of the oil and oil filter is *only replaced if required.

 

Which invariably it isn't.

This is in the Skoda Rapid section, not some other model section though.

I know, what we can't confirm is if it 2 or 4 years.

 

The point remains, at 2 years it is only necessary to have a minor service, even if the pollen filter is needed it shouldn't cost more than £139.

So anyways, Pollen Filters are like Air Filters,  Location location location and environmental conditions, Dust, Damp etc.

 

UK Skoda Main dealers when Minor & Major Services with the Major Service being more expensive were changing Pollen Filters at Major Services.

If you need one done sooner then you change it. 

 

All up in the air now and the Service Desk Staff, and Skoda UK are ar53 over elbow and its a Free For all, Cash in on keeping the customer confused.

 

PS 

The Major Service was called an Inspection Service.

The Body should be inspected at each service and then written up.

When there were Drum Brakes these were included in the Major Service for being cleaned out.

Now there are still Drum Brakes and now not included.

 

Brake Fluid was at 2 years and each 2 years, Major Services,

Now it is 3 Years and then each 2 years.

 

Evolution and less getting done and the Service Prices are much the same.

More confusion.

I wasn't charged as it's got a service plan. Skoda told me the pollen filter WOULD be changed on its next service.
