Improved performance

Featured Replies

Dear All,

I was looking at a ECU remap , and before I went ahead I had the following replaced.

1) HPFP cam follower (apparently these fail)
2) diverter valves
3) breather system

FYI: The Vrs has now done 105K

The car drives like new again and it is a sheer beauty to drive. Almost made me decide not to have the remap (going for bluefin).

Hope above is useful to someone.

All best,

Petrol or diesel

I am running a bluefin map along with a few other parts to help with stage one such as plugs and coils a good panel filter might help too and some sort of air intake :)

Coil packs are a common fail after a remap along with the diverter valve. Best money I spent having a remap

I have remap too, I would certainly do cam follower and upgrade dv as it will fail. I will be doing a little write up in next few days as I've just done cam follower and also induction kit which has really helped.Matt

Like previously said remap is best money you will spend. The Revo map on my car has really transformed it, I don't drive hard but it's nice knowing the low down pull is there for safer overtaking etc

Vrs even !

Take out pre cat as not needed for mot and get shark stage 1.5 remap. Main cat stays obviously. Definately recommend shark for remap an can also get sts box to put back to standard map if needed! Im running this setup and as a cheap step before stage 2 it is well worth it. Standard breathing ect i changed filter for clean paper one and dv from rev c to g as the rev c was beginning to split. Plugs stayed with oem bosch rather than ngk as seemed to lose power with ngk pfr7s8eg which is new replacement for the bosch oem. I didnt change coils or anything else.

The shark remap sounds good, but when I ran the insurer, there is no increase in premium for me for a bhp increase below 25% of 197 and unfortunately the shark one comes in at 250. bluefin comes in 238 bhp.

If you are interested in Shark, I would confirm with them if thats correct? I know it says it on the website but the TSI engine quotes only 240 and I thought the TFSI was less?

Tfsi is 240bhp and 400nm torque. Precat delete and its up to 250bhp. Flatter torque curve too but great over the range

I have a downpipe with the cat and precat removed, just not bothered to fit it incase it isnt worth the hassle

Main cat needed for mot unless you have friendly tester. The mapping with precat delete allows for more flow as exhaust gas temps are reduced allowing for more power top end before fuelling increased to reduce temps. Stage 1.5 and 2 run about same boost settings just fuelling different due to reduced flow on stock downpipe. Therefore stage 2 with 200 cell sport cat flows better still. I just didnt like idea of precat being jammed up against turbo which keeps alot of heat once you have shut car down. Easy and cheap performance upgrade with or without mapping and can be done on tsi and tfsi.
