Oil Warning Light

Featured Replies

Hi, i own a 2000 octavia 1.6 glxi and i noticed a oil pressure warning light, about a year ago, in that time i read the manual and it said "When Oil light appear you sould stop the car and check for oil level, and if this is ok you should contact a Skoda Specialyst. I didn`t pay much attrention to this and runt it for two more days, just to realized my engine stuck and had to replace the upper part of the engine.

Now i am aware i must pay special attention to this warning light, and that's why i'm telling you this.

three month ago i noticed the same warning, and this time i did exactly what the manual says, when we check the oil pressure was ok (so the oil pump was ok), oil level fine, everything as ok, but the problem persist, then we decided to clean up the whole engine (flush the oil and applied compressed air into the oil conduits), filled with brand new oil (according to the manufacterer recomendation) and it solved the problem.

Today i noticed the same @@"$%& Oil warning light, and i don`t think i have to do this every three month, please i need help.

I have flush the entire engine three times since the car was born (sorry) bought.

Ciao

could it be the sensor?

That i thought the first time when the engine failed. At this time i have the engine open, ready to flush it again, nowithstanding, i want to know what might be causing this. I will check this time the sensor but i think it`s ok. Another symptom is, when the light lit i turn off the engine and bak on in 1 minute and the alarm disapear until a few hundred of meters is been traveled.

sounds like a dodgy oil pressure switch to me

Where can i locate the oil pressure switch?

can't remember exactly where it is on the 1.6 but should be close to the oil filter housing and have one wire on it.
