I'll make a video of the full process if it'll help. I had the page locked / private but a few people requested to view it so moderators unlocked it (with my permission) and it was left at that.

Ahh you magnificent person

I bought them last week with the H1 HID kit, going to do mine with my spare set of lights and see how it looks.

thats the video i watched last week as well :D

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm having trouble with mine... Not sure how to wire them up....

Do these get rid of the side lights?

No, they replace the H7 dipped beam bulbs, and then the tap into the wire for the high beam to activate the shutter.

side lights will still work and kind of "glow" from behind the projector surround

So where does this wire go?

How do I get it behind the light to wire it in?

image.jpg

My kit for this arrives tomorrow so will be going through this very soon, hopefully it comes out okay

And this is the mess I'm left with behind the light...

I assume the black wire pushes into the plug for the H7 bulb on the brown side and the red wire pushes into the white side.

So that just leaves the two wires in the first picture, hanging over the top wanting to be wired into somthing??

Now... From what I've been reading those two wires are for the shutter. So for high and low beam?

Can't I just leave them unplugged and keep my standard high beam bulb or will they not wire up that way?

That will work, but won't look as good on high beam.

However theyre really easy to wire up, drill small hole through the reflector behind shroud, cut connector off, poke wires through, connect black to ground and red to 12v positive of high beam plug

It seems like that's the way farward, been watching other videos and if there isn't a hole for the wire... Drill one! So will do that Monday when I refit them.

So basically anyway....

- Drill a hole and poke wires through.

- attach the red wire to the yellow/white wire going to the bulb on the left, think that's high beam.

-attach the black wire to the brown wire on the far left also.

That sound about right? - when I say red and

Black obviously the small thin ones on the projector.

As for the hid kit, push the black wire into the brown side of the plug for the old H7 bulb and the red wire into the White side of the plug for the old H7 bulb?

Basically yes. You may find the HID kit is the other way round (black to white and brown to red)

Can you not get the wire through the hole for the H7 bulb before you put the projector in place?

Saves drilling then.

Any risk of having them the wrong way at first?

Not going to blow up and melt the ECU or somthing?

As for the wire, no in a nutshell. The metal insert bit pushes in flush where the bulb would sit and the projector pushes inside that so your not left with any gaps. If you push the wire in it would mean the projector is sitting at an angle and shine up/down

No choice but to make some modification then.

Id be tempted to just file a little notch where the bulb sits so the she wire can go through next to it.

If you get the wires the wrong way round they'll simply not turn on.

Thanks, thats my plan yeah, just file a small notch out rather than drill a hole, should still fit perfecly fine then as it has a foam backing so the wires will sink into that.

Ive checked the instructions for fitting the hids and it just shows the red and back wire being pushed into the bulb holder, nothing about each side so will have to be trial and error unless i want to start getting test lights and multi-meters out.

Right, think they are all sorted, although havnt plugged them in to find out yet, just checking what yous think of the wiring first.

To clarify, the projector shutter moves to give the lights a "high beam" but the high beam bulb will also light up at the same time???

Now the pictures.

This is the black and red wires direct from the projectors.

I assumed red was live to linked that to yellow which looks like it gives power to the bulb and black to which I think is earth to the brown where the bulb sits so assume that's the earth also.

image.jpg

The hid kit instructions are pretty rubbish.

Similar to the projector I've linked the black (earth?) to the brown side of the bulb holder (earth?) and the red (live?) to the White (live?) side in the bulb holder also. I assume brown is the earth since it has one on each bulb holder also brown so...

Looks good to me (y) also correct on the shutters, they remove the cutoff from the low beam when triggered by the high beam bulbs, which will also still work

Thanks, will find out in the morning then!

Looks like it's going to be a struggle getting the headlight cover on with the H1 bulb, do they all stick out the rear like that?

Nope, the D2S in the OEM Xenons seem quite compact and have a 90 degree twist on/off plug for the wiring.

Those chunky cables with the blade connectors, are they the HT wires to the HID bulbs? All to easy to mistake 12V for 14KV that way. :)

Not sure what you mean but just test fitted them and they seem ok
