Who fitted the projectors to Vrs lights

Featured Replies

Those chunky cables with the blade connectors, are they the HT wires to the HID bulbs? All to easy to mistake 12V for 14KV that way. :)

No they are the 12v that take the feed to the ballast. They're connected to the H7 connector.

I'll make a video of the full process if it'll help. I had the page locked / private but a few people requested to view it so moderators unlocked it (with my permission) and it was left at that.

  • Think this might be it?   https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/386335-how-to-fit-hid-xenon-projector-headlights-in-standard-lights/

Thanks, I'm worried they might catch fire or somthing now :/

Took extra pictures of how I've wires them up.

And as shown earlier the spade connectors pushed into the bulb holder

Don't worry about it.

An H7 HID kit is very straight forward, and you can't go wrong.

These are H1 but pretty similar I guess?

Yes it's the same.

The only difference is the bulb holder.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease then.

Took longer than expected but happy with the results.

They look good.

I wish those kits were around when I had my vRS. Would have saved a fortune over Depo lights.

They look mega . What's the light output like ??

Thanks, yeah it is a big saving over depo!

Can't comment on light output since it's still daylight, it's booked in at a local MOT station tomorrow at 11 to get the beam set correctly so I'll let you know then.

Top man , thank you . How much do you think it's cost you to convert lights ? And are you gonna do a how to guide ??

Cost is about £45 for everything, but cheaper can be had, that includes the HID kit with bulbs and ballasts which I choose a more expensive kit being "AC" and canbus friendly.

Yeah I'll do a how to guide, I've taken about 50 pictures so will sort them all out and upload a guide :)

I've updated my project thread with a few other pictures of them fitted. Will do a build thread another time since there's quite a few pictures to organise

Yeah I read it wasn't needed and know the Fabia isn't canbus, I just kinda figured the canbus would be better quality to some extent and have less risk of doing any sort of damage down the line.

You can get other hid kits cheaper again if your not botherd about canbus or quality, same with the projectors.

I'd think this would be possible for around £30 if you wanted cheap everything.

Canbus HID kits are usually just the same, but with extra capacitors to fool the car into thinking a it's a 55W load.

Lots of members with Octavias (including me) have the CNlight HID kits fitted, and they're good quality.

Just been for a quick test drive, weathers poor and they havnt been setup yet, pulled into a car park to try and get a flat surface to check... I'm I'm parked sideways facing a curved building but the light looks like this!

Looking good, that's about 300% more light than my 8000k lol. I've ordered some 4300k today as its just plain dangerous.

Ahh poo, I was meaning to message you! Pm sent.

They are the perfect amount of blue for me so over the moon with them, the difference from standard to xenon is huge!

Thanks, plenty of good comments, seems well worth it!

I'll get better pictures of the beam pattern tomorrow once they have been set properly and hopefully get a nice clear wall for a good picture :)

  • 1 year later...

Hutchy I know this is old, but did you do a guide for this?

Want to order a couple of sets of Xenons for my daughters mk1 and my mk2 at the same time, but want to get all the stuff for the Headlight Modification for the MK1 projector kit gathered together and have a good gander at what I need to do.

Cheers

Lennie

I did 3 sets yesterday with new lenses if that helps :D

Im sure I made a guide somewhere yeah.

Aye I was looking for the guide, but its not is the useful posts bit and it really should be pinned if its about.

Absolutely, unfortunately our moderation 'team' is more concerned with being school hall monitors than actually doing anything useful. Don't get caught looking at one 'funny' whatever you do!
