A LITTLE HELP please......

Featured Replies

Hi chaps,

I haven't posted for a while as the car (Corrida red Mk2 Octavia 2005 2.0TFSI Estate 1Z5-> BWA engine code) has been in the hands of SWMBO and running fine, apart from a few scrapes and bangs.......

At the last MOT we only had one advisory for the rear shock cover and bumpstop. Looking at it, it needs a new Nearside bumpstop, ring and protective sleeve. While I'm in there i might as well change the dampers as its now on 68,000, I have seen the threads on how to change these over so it looks easy peasy, I am just struggling to find the exact parts. I have narrowed it down to 2 Different stops and 2 different sleeves, and 2 different dampers

Bumpstop is either

1K0511353F or 3C0511359B, they look the same and are the same length except one is pink and looks rude and the other is yellow.

the ring is the same part no, and the sleeve has 2 part nos, 1K0513425 or 1K0513425D both of which seem to be the same.

The bit I'm struggling with, seems to be the difference in the rear suspension dampers. There seem to be 2 setups based on whether the car is a Hatch or Estate, which makes sense, with part nos of either 1k0513029GB or GP. The one listed on the parts finder i had was the GB code and lists as a Monroe shock with code 23993, but this seems on many places to fit all estates except the VRS? Whereas the GP code is the damper for the hatch, and doesn't list the estate at all.

Does anyone have any ideas, Im not adverse to getting a different brand however don't want to "improve" the handling.

Cheers Chaps.

Ok have had it up in the air and I can read the part Nos off the bump stops and sleeve so

For ease if any one else is looking

The stops on my car are 1K0511353F

and the sleeves 1K0513425

going to have to look harder for the shock codes.....

Cheers,

Had seen something similar, interesting on changing the shape of the stops, I wonder if thats the difference in the part no for that. Mine had the oval stops with the part handily printed on the side so Definitely got the right ones on that score.

I have had a good look at the top of the shocks and there is no leakage so I may just leave well alone for now on replacing them, unless I can get some from GSF or ECP, though their listings are quite vague on parts..... as usual.
