  • True, but I just can't see what connects them all.

I just like the fact that after all their bleating last year about the rubbish Renault engine, they now have to eat a nice slice of humble pie. Even if the engine isn't quite the best on the grid, it

C4 have awarded production contract for F1 shows to Whisper Films (set up some time ago by DC, Jake Humphrey, and BBC1 F1 producer Sunil Patel).

Haas F1 have passed their FIA crash tests - previously a stumbling block for some new arrivals.

Interesting news on the CH4 coverage, Whisper films is part owned by CH4 so no surprise there ? Does this mean Jake will be coming back to F1 presenting ?

I really hope this does not mean that we are going to be subjected to Jake "Is There NO Beginning to my Talent?" Humphreys.

Oh God! Him and the buffoon anchorman on Sky, no not TED K the other one who's name I cant even remember. :D

I so dislike sports being presented by people with no idea about them - Adrian Chiles on footy anyone?

C4 has announced Bahrain, Spain, Europe (Azerbaijan), Britain, Hungary, Belgium, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico and Abu Dhabi as its live broadcasts. There will be no advertisement breaks during the races.

For the remaining 11 grands prix Channel 4 will show a comprehensive highlights package.

The full presenting and commentary team is to be announced in due course.

Excellent, will still end up streaming from Sky Go, but I will probably end up using the C4 coverage from time to time.

Starting to get excited for the new season, the new cars should start to be unveiled in next few weeks. I suspect they will all look similar to the Mercedes, short nose and tight packaging towards the rear,

Will be interesting to see what livery Renault use. I suspect it will be the yellow and black combo they had last time round, Hopefully they will see sense and bin off that idiot Maldonado.

I don't have sky sports, tend to watch it on low quality internet streams just so I can see it live.  Although since I only get 1 Sunday off work a month now it has become less of an issue.

  • 2 weeks later...

Can't say I'm surprised.

He certainly does not have to consistent talent to land him a seat that isn't funded by sponsorship.

I bet Renault have had lawyers all over the Lotus-PDVSA contract looking for an out since they agreed the takeover.

Not paying is a pretty good first step :) I should take a leaf out of their book :D

Who does?

Even Schumacher's wages were paid by Shell according to a recent interview with then Ferrari team boss Jean Todt.

K-Mag certainly deserves another go - I think it likely he'll be more successful in F1 than his Dad was - in fact he might already be, I think Kevin has been on the podium, Jan I'm not so sure.

Yes he has had a podium, and outscored Pop 55 points to 1.

I hope you're not comparing Maldonado to Schumacher??

Difference is, Ferrari wanted to have him as a driver regardless, Shell being a main sponsor to Ferrari and technical partner pay a lot of money to have their logo on the cars and overalls etc, so it probably was some of their money paying his wages. Difference is, he wasn't sponsored by Shell to get the drive. Winning two world championships did that.

Maldonado only got considered because he brought big money with him. To a team like Lotus who were struggling with finances or Williams who are only a Formula one team with no other real business plan, it must have been a god send to have somebody who could just about keep their car on the track, but also backed by a massive company willing to pay hundreds of millions of dollars.

Maybe I'm biased because I didn't really rate him as a driver.

Kevin needs to hit the ground running and prove himself straight away. His year at McLaren had ups and downs, but I think there was a diamond in the rough.

I don't rate Crashtor either, but it is a fact he is a Grand Prix winner - and there aren't that many who can claim that.

Will be interesting to see how Joleyn Palmer stacks up at K-Mag. Wonder where Maldonado will end up now f1 is seemingly over

  • Author

He has a big bag of cash & there are 2 Mercedes powered cars with seats for sale...

Poor Manor ;)

  • Author

Maybe not - Venezuela is apparently in financial crisis so Crashtor's bag of millions is now empty.

It's not sounding very good for Schumacher. I wonder if they are preparing us for the worst :(
