Paint quality and stone chips.

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I have an Octavia vrs coming in March and I have chosen the quartz grey metallic paint and would like to keep it looking fresh for as long as possible.

I was just wondering if any of you have this colour and are suffering from lots of chipping.

A friend of mine has a protection film kit fitted to his old Lexus and it protected the front bumper and leading edges of the bonnet and wings. When it was removed the paint looked as fresh as the day it left the dealers.

Is there such a kit for the Octavia ?

Regards.

Steve.

I had a Race Blue Fabia VRS and it was a nightmare with stone chips. They use white primer as the basecoat to make the metallic effect stand out.

That's why I opted for a Candy White Mk3 VRS. In one year, I have one stonechip on the front bumper, the bonnet is still perfect.

The wheel arches come protected with clear film, and I'm pretty sure you can get after market clear film for the leading edge of the bonnet. Just don't get one of those hideous bonnet bra's  :D

One of the best options is Venturesheild if you really want to protect it. The only way to prevent is use some sort of film. It's not cheap though.

Going to instantly regret putting this but I've got a "metal grey" VRS. Four months and four thousand miles later and I've yet to get any. But now I've put that, I'll be getting loads I reckon. But so far, no chips and I do a 32 mile motorway commute each day.

This is the only way to protect any cars paintwork
