KU58 MYH

Featured Replies

Anybody got any info on this car, previous owners etc?

Looking at buying it...

Also Cruise Control Retrofit, is it around the £200 mark?

Cheers

Clever, didn't know you could do that, thanks.

Its got headlight washers, we're these fitted on the Xenon headlight option do you know?

It's going to need the rear brake pads checking at some point judging by it's previous MOT history...

It has been untaxed since November so I assume it's been sat around for a while...

Yes, if it's a vRS with headlamp washers then it has Xenons. Also, if there's an interior shot you'll notice the headlight levelling switch will be missing, as this is done automatically with the xenons.

Hmmm seen 2 similar priced. One with Xenons one with rear parking, reckon I'd prefer the lights

There is only one choice there -- Front and rear park sensors can be retrofitted with OEM or aftermarket kits very, very easily for very little money. Xenons cannot -- it's mega money for any retrofit, if indeed it is possible, and any upgrade to HID kits is not a real viable option on the facelift models due to the sensitivity and likelihood of frying the car's internal brain (the BCM)

And the standard halogens have been described by many as atrocious/poor/not good/terrible -- take your pick!

Go for the one with xenons and add the parking sensors later!  Good luck

Mike

Another very good call, thanks. Agreed. I'll be driving the car mainly, its SWMBO that wants the sensors so can do without.

Appreciate the help/replies guys

One other thing was auto or manual. Do old DSG's need to be kept at arms length for fear of going wrong? Although to be fair any car can go wrong, our Ex Demo Juke broke down 3 hours into our ownership...on a roundabout

Yep - exactly the right call, as Mike says

If you want to post up links to the two you're considering, we'll take a closer look :)

This is 09Plate with the Auto & cruise:

54Plate Fabia vRS to trade. probably worth £12-1400...

All seem expensive for 8 odd year old cars, they're going on low milage so hoping for a bit of bartering room...

I probably go with the KU58 example. Depends if you want DSG or not :)

I'd avoid the PD170 unit, especially for the sake of a few hundred quid.

The advert for KU58 does annoy me though, when they mention an 'admin fee' is applicable. They're a car dealership! They're in business to sell cars, not add on hidden charges. And they don't even mention how much it is, so I'd certainly work that into price negotiations.

Yep, very good spot :)

£4k premium there for the low mileage.

Is that 4K valid or not for the lower miles?

Now that's put the cat amongst the pigeons! Just like my old one in the profile pic.

always a couple of hundred in negotiations/deal at least too :-)

KU58 is a Northampton registration, & quite probably registered by Skoda UK.

KU plates are quite often to be found on ex management cars, which tend to have nice specifcations.

As for lights & DSG, Xenons are worth looking for, we've owned both on  vRS Octys & know what we prefer & if the DSG has been

serviced on time / or mileage then you should be OK.

It's a great match to the 2.0 TSi lump, & probably quicker too.

Just had another quick look, its got the new style badge on the wheel centre caps. Looks good.

I would be more concerned that it's a category D insurance right off.

If you bought it, it could cause issues for you trying to obtain insurance yourself.

You will need to check what the damage was and who repaired it to put it back on the road.

Get a comprehensive Hpi check done before you commit to this one. Hpi check are about £25 but well worth it for peace of mind.

I didn't notice the right off bit. Good advice regarding getting it checked out if it's of interest.

Personally I wouldn't go with a write off.. plus resale values tend to be quite a bit lower..

I wouldn't write-off the cat-d (boom- boom). My last motor was Cat-D , had sat-nav , heated full leather , parking sensors , xenons, auto everything you name it. Got it a good 2-3k less than normal asking as well. Insurance is no problem. All they ask is it has a valid MOT. Do the checks properly prior to purchase and a bargain can be had. Make sure the seller MOT's it before you buy and your sorted. That's a nice looking motor there.

For me it's more balancing how long you'll keep the car for, and factoring in that a CAT-D will be more difficult to sell on.

I kept mine for a year , 1st person to see bought , came from South of London to Aberdeen to buy , basically got what I paid for it.
