Yeah will be good to see how it changes it

Yes I traveled the 450 mile round trip (twice) to get my previous cars done.

The return trip will certainly be better than the one going there!  :sun:

That's true.

I live under two miles away from Shark HQ so had to take a detour. :)

Handy for having our 3 VAG cars serviced though. :)

Had a Shark Stage 1 some years ago and have been very satisfied with the performance and economy. No problems!

Is loading a map via STS easy to do?

Yes. Very much a case of follow the manual and the display.....doesn't take long to do :) :) ;)

Wow sounds like a good idea

Sts box is great idea. I can vouch for great maps on a tfsi and 1.9 pd 105. Both have been really good and both have improved both cars in their respective ways immensely!

I'll be looking into the Shark map later in the year on my Leon tfsi. After having one on my previous vrs pd 170 i can truely say it transformed that car!! I can't wait to feel what it does with a petrol.

Meaty101 get precat knocked out as not needed for mot and at stage 1 its a step towards stage 2 without the cost of either a better breathing setup or downpipe. It allows better fuelling on the map higher into the rev range without having to keep engine exhaust gas temps down as exhaust can flow better. Main cat further down the downpipe must stay in place for mot. Not alot of people know its there but its used for eu emissions not uk and alot of the mk5 golf gti guys have done this before stage 1 map. Shark can incorperate this into the map for no extra cost too if you mention to them before you have the map put on.

Does a map effect the emissions output?

Precat. well, i will admit i didn't know it had one. So it's another catalitic converter? And with sensors? So if it's removed without a map it'll flash up a cel?

I had the pre cat removed about 6 months ago, instantly noticed turbo spool up was quicker, definately a good mod for 'free'.

Unfortunately I did it after the remap so probably havnt gained the full benefit.

No sensors so wont trigger the CEL, its only there to get the main cat up to optimal working temperature quicker by causing restriction to the exhaust gases.

I'm booked in for thursday afternoon!

Not broken the news to the wife yet though...

25% off through Jan with Shark. A map for the 2.0 tfsi was £399 currently £299. Very tempting but just a bit too soon after christmas!!

A couple of suggestions:

1. If you have a satnav, all you're having done is a map upgrade

2. It's in for the VW emissions recall

3. That faint squeak that only you can here is getting worse and you need to get it sorted

3. Say nowt!

Mike

Lie to his wife? How could you suggest such a wicked thing!!!!

it is a Shark remap we're talking about here!

Anyway, who said anything about lying? OK if he doesn't actually say he's NOT going for the remap LOL!

OK, tell her the positives and how much fuel it will save once it is done! There is also a way round it!

Mike

No your right he's better off lying!! Lol.

Typical the tsi is dearer than the tfsi, have ordered my map to get the discount but not booked a day yet :)

Booked my cr170 to get a shark map with a local firm. Looking forward to have more torque more than anything. Glad to see I'm not the only one that had to explain to the Mrs why a remap is a good idea

I've just had a look on the shark website, although on my phone, and cannot see any mention of the January discount?

Am I missing something?

Cheers

You only get the Briskoda discount with Shark if you are a Briskoda freedom member. For £12 it is well worth it!

Mike

The January deal is direct from Shark, Mike.

It's been mentioned on their Social Media channels. I'd just mention it over the phone, at the time of booking.

The 25% discount is still on. I enquired yesterday.
