Future Fabia Options ?

Featured Replies

Does the forum ever think that the Fabia will be offered with an optional upgraded sound system like the Canton ? I do rate factory fitted sound systems that have better speakers a sub and an amp, saves all the messing about with adding after market bits. The Octavia has it as an option why not the Fabia.

Que Sera Sera!

Skoda CZ /UK will probably have to do something to get the Fabia selling better in the UK and elsewhere because they are not selling in anything like the numbers that Skoda UK sold Mk2's.

Maybe better value and quality fitments as standard will help,

or maybe it will be a change of engines and some of the latest VW Euro 6 versions that will do it.

Upgrade it yourself for less money and get a much better sound.

The factory fitted upgrade stuff is still crap quality. The car manufacturers dont pay the speaker manufacturers enough to get anything decent.

Would like to see bi-xenonn/xenon headlamps as option for fabia. Polo does have LED headlamps as option. Why fabia cant ?

Because the picking order goes Audi - VW - SEAT -Skoda. Sort of.

Will eventually force its way down as time goes. :)

But not getting xenon headlamps would not stop buying the car. Might get one for next. Love Mk2 fabia. Dad does have 3 cyl car :) Sounds awsome.

It might not for you.. but it might be a deal breaker for some.

If you do alot of miles at night and like making progress, they're great.

Agree, a lot of people who have zero brand loyalty are ruthless and look at what they get as standard and what is an option, if they want a certain item and that car can not have it fitted.... they move on and get the one that offers them what they want, a new car purchase is often either a once in a lifetime thing (for some) or its certainly not a common thing to do, so they want .... what they want. I also agree that when i sat in the new Mk3 it did not feel a massive leap forward in kit and general quality of materials to my mint cond Mk2 elegance.

Too right.

tbf, the Xenons would be a deal breaker for me if i was to buy new again. Theres nothing worse than being slowed down on empty roads because of lack of light.

I sat in a mk3 too and whilst its nice, theres nothing on it that would make me trade my 2013 Fabia in either.

I'd probably have to go up to an Octy to feel like its worth doing.

If the roads are empty do you not have full beam on, and how much slower than 60 mph do you go?

Now when someone is coming and you are on dipped beam and can not see, that is inexcusable for lights fitted by manufacturers.

Full beam yes, but have you seem the full beams on bi-xenons? They're fantastic.

The Fabia isnt so bad cos its not a fast car anyway. Bike headlights are only marginally worse than the Fabias, and that slows me down alot from normal pace.

Its not about out and out speed so much though, the more you can see the safer it is. Xenons are almost like daylight.

I must admit that when coming home (the shortcut way) i have to go down about 3 miles of single lane country roads !!!! I don't like it with my headlights, i only do it when there is an accident on the motorway and have zero choice. The lights are awful and i too would love Xenons, i had them on an old Audi A6 and loved them.

It must be my old eyes but on many Dual Carriageways, Motorways and Trunk Routes i need to dip lights because big signs can be very bright with Full beam on them.

(Now i wear yellow driving glasses lots at night just to help with others that have Dipped Beam that is good for them and stuff anyone else.)

Just a bit sad to see that in VAG there are such a huge differences. I mean polo can be fitted with LED headlights. Fabia has to do with normal ones. I mean its for safety. Xenons are better then normal Halogen headlights. Would be nice to see that basic safety items i.e airbags (curtain, side etc), xenons (LED) would be standard or even option for all the group cars.

I even had xenons on my Mk1 2005 Fabia VRs - 11yrs on and we can't get them on the Fabia [emoji848]

Presumably, though, you could source your own Xenons headlights kit and get them retro-fitted like I've just done on my '57plate Roomster, which has the 'orrible projector headlights, and I presume is same as matching-year Fabia Mk2.

Though I've since read on here that I now need to get the electronics re-coded with VCDS, or apparently the wiper motor may fail!?

I guess you could but would you really bother when you can buy another similar model from another manufacturer and not have any hassle ? I would not be buying a brand new fabia then take it to a dealer to rip out the new headlight and fit what should of been an option in the first place, plus i am not sure how the warranty would stand.... if at all. Too much hassle and potential new buyers can be put off with the colour pallete of a certain model let alone something like this.

Just a comment about the pecking order, Polo did not have "proper" lighting options between roughly 2001 > 2011, while some Ibiza had lighting options and maybe some Fabia.

Maybe with the introduction of LED headlights, being cheaper, more cars will have them fitted standard or factory option.

Whether LED lights are better though, im not sure.

I havent driven with them.. but i know in the motorbike world they often dont give the spread of light that a halogen gives in a decent reflector lens

Xenon headlights are making their way down to lower models slowly but surely, they are now available on the Rapid in the UK, hopefully the Fabia will follow...

Have them on wife's Polo and they seem okay, a lot better than filament lamps even though her previous car always had Philips Extremes etc, very wide controlled dip, basically a rectangular light block ahead and side, main beam is very good, probably good enough when compared with the HIDs fitted to my S4, I'd think that HIDs will be getting dumped on upper versions of smaller cars to use them up, then simple versions of LEDs will replace them while complex versions will get fitted to bigger cars. I think that there are big initial cost savings on LEDs over HIDs and the power usage will be a lot lower overall even when compared with HIDs, so "greener".

As more and more "options" become standard on cars the Manufacturers have less and less to charge extra for. Currently companies like MINI charge a fortune for LED lights when it's easy to argue they are a safety feature and should be fitted as standard.

No doubt like the LED DRLs Skoda will offer the HID Headlamps as a 2017 model year option ;-)
