Courtesy Car

Featured Replies

So SWMBO'a Micra has gone in for the damage she did to it down the side, but because her photocard has expired I've got to drive the courtesy car (named on the insurance and a valid license).

My car for the next 3 weeks instead of my Yeti is...

A Corsa SRi.

I've only driven it briefly so far but yeah, not overly impressed.

Lots of shiny on the interior to make up for the lack of comfortable things and I can't see any of the four sides properly. Even with loads of fiddling I can't see anywhere near the end of the bonnet.

I would say at least it's pokey, but it's not...

I had a corsa as a courtesy car recently -horrid car. The worst thing I found was that the linkage on the steering column would pin my foot down on the clutch pedal when on full lock during parking. Meaning I couldn't get my foot off the pedal or let the clutch up until I straightened wheel. Totally gutless engine for a 1.4.

Mother in law had a corsa , mid spec cant remember what it was, in about '07/08 i drove it once. Hated every minute of the drive out to the airport to collect them off a flight. Never want to see one again, nor does she - the stupid button for gett ing reverse was quite stiff and she stuggled with it due to arthritic thumbs. Didnt notuce it on the test drive as she did do any reversing... (dont ask why..)

I got one when the Fabia vRS was in for some work - bit of a drop in power.

Do they still have the stupid indicators that don't have a physical "switch"?

Its strange I had a Astra J with the 2.0 Diesel and was given a SE Corsa as a courtesy car, lots of gadgets (heated steering wheel being my fav) but compared the old Corsa B which I had as my first car the new Corsa was just not a nice car to drive...

I know that gives no explanation as to why it wasn't nice to drive it just didn't feel quite right

The new ones (2015 onwards) have gone back to the sensible way.

I had similar views on my Corsa courtesy car a few months back...

I used to deliver the things for a living. Ducking nasty. The only redeeming feature they have is they're really cheap if you buy lots of them.

Almost every V@*xh@11 I've driven in the last 20 years has had stupidly high gearing (as in I needed to be at least one, sometimes 2 gears lower than in my regular car, or in a Ford or PSA, any time road speed dropped below 50mph, or I wanted to accelerate faster than a glacier).

Does that mean your other half has to drive the yeti? (illegally). If not, just leave the Corsa parked up.

Just pointing out the possibility!

She has to drive the yeti. No choice really as she still has to get to work and ferry the kids around while I go 15 miles in the opposite direction to get to my work...

I found a lovely feature today - painted rear drums brakes. Not driven a car with drum brakes since my polo mk3 breadvan...

So long as she has at least applied for an updated licence with new photograph.

If not, and caught, she will be done for driving without a licence, and therefore uninsured. Any accidents and the insurance company will find out.

That's all I wanted to point out. You are probably already aware, but some people would not be. .

Good that Vauxhall paint the rear brake drums,

the All New 2015 Skoda Fabia, What Car of the Year 2015 & Small What Car Car of the Year that have Drum Brakes get a Grey Primer that does not inhibit corrosion for long because they do not get a 'Paint Finish'. 5 Euro saved per car.
