They look pretty but apparently the range is no better.

well, what i can say are that the Xenons on my octy are superb, so much brighter and safer to drive with, than standard bulb setups. Give a much better lower down spread of light(to side), especially usefull on dodgy country lanes

They're better, but

I can't recall anybody who bought a Xenon-equipped Skoda (and had the lights aimed properly) regretting getting them. I certainly wouldn't buy another car without them.

Agreed. The only problem is that they show up the poor main beam halogens (unless you have a Superb and bi-xenons :finger: )

The range is no better because they come from the factory on the lowest setting.

I've had mine adjusted (within the legal settings) & they are FAR better.

How much better ? Well, normal lights = Horse. Xenon lights = Harrier jump jet.

They're better, but

Think they are great after getting them adjusted higher.

Dont think I wouldn't buy another car without them if I have the choice. Also love the purple reflection you get off signs and the way they look either off or on:)

What bulbs are you buying for

I wouldn't order them if they didn't come as standard.

Mine have been adjusted to the correct settings, but I still prefer "proper" bulbs. I've upgraded my main beams which is good but I'd still prefer the old fashioned ones, even though I prefer the spread of the xenons and the washer jets that come with them.

oowww,

where can you have this done!!!!!

Just went back to my dealer and said they are too low, can you move them up. They said I dont think it can be done but I said lot of people from here had it done. They checked them then moved them up no problem

Got mine done at an independant VW specialist, who I know quite well & have serviced my previous cars.

They have Bosch's own version of VAG-COM & know what they're doing.

Normal lights - Venus

Xenons- The Sun!

Am I right in saying that with Xenons, when full beams go ON the Xenons go Off ?

The xenons stay on. I finf I dont even need the full beam alot of the time.

Whats the 2 different types of Xenons ? Do they always stay on with Full beams ?

Fabias and Octy 1's with Xenons have halogen bulbs for main beam. The dipped xenons stay on. I think Superbs have bi-xenons - xenon for main and dip. Don't know about Octy 2's, and don't know if on the Superb the dips go off on main.

Xenons are good, come with the washers & bigger (5 liter) washer fluid bottle. They are rubbish if they are not adjusted properly (i.e. to the legal max height) as the standard delivery height appears to be lighting up about 2 yards in front of the car (well not quite but you get the idea - it needs adjusting).

Uprated bulbs are worth it on non-xenon cars, and I personally think also on the non-bi-xenon ones, my full beam bulbs were changed and it's much better.

Might as well do the indicator bulbs whilst you're at it :)

bi-xenons means that both dipped and full beam use a xenon bulb. The Octavia (v1, dunno about v2) that has xenons and the Fabia vRS with xenons use it only for the dipped beam.

edit - typical posting same stuff at same time LOL

So would there be a Full & Dipped bulb in Bi Xenons or both incorporated in the one ? Just wondering as then you might be able to tell by the headlamp.

It would be separate bulbs I'm sure. Need to ask a Superb owner who has bi-xenons.:)

 Just thought we could tell by the arrangement on the Octavia RS II picture, if it was Bi-Xenons or not.
