Renault Megane 225 Cup in Burnt Orange please :D

I have a list of 5 on my "serious" shopping list:

Mazda 6 TS2 2.0D Estate

Citroen C5 VTR HDI estate

Honda Accord 2.2CDTI exec Tourer

Merc B200 CDI

Mazda 5 2.0 TDI SportNav

Thrilling list innit :(

Gotta be economical, cheap insurance and have a decent boot/passenger space. I had a list of 10, but discounted the other 5;

Peugeot 407 SW

Vauxhall Signum Exclusive

Ford Mondeo ST TDCI

Vauxhall Zafira 1.9CDTI (150) SRI

Honda FRV 2.2CDTI Sport

I have such a thrilling life

Why the Mazda and not the Mondeo on which it is based?

I have such a thrilling life

What happened to the Hyundai you were looking at ... or is that on the non-serious list? :D:rofl:

Chris

Not looked at it properly yet Chris, plus it does seem a bit "cheap" inside and that is important when you spend up to 80k per year inside it.

As to why the Mazda over the Ford; insurance, cost, economy, warranty. On the plus side for the Mondeo, I could get a better deal and the interior is "nicer". Also need to look at the new Passat estate.....

I plan to test the top 5 and if they don't float my boat, look at the next 5. Not sure what I'll get but there ain't a Skoda on the list.

The Passat estate is a very nice looking car , and quite highly specced too.

I was surprised how little extra it costs over a similarly specced golf

not having had my A4 that long im still happy with it so am planning keeping it another 2 years anyway.

maybe

Saab 9-3 Aero

Audi S4

Volvo S60R

If it were me in your shoes, I'd probably take the Accord. Love the interior and a great diesel engine. Just not sure about the Tourer rear styling? And it would definitely need the 17" wheel option and not be in silver. Latest Accord needs a dark colour to look right I think and a smaller wheel gets dwarfed in the arches.

Steve

would have to be imported but a lincon navigater or a cadillac escallade, fully modded of course like the r'n'b and rap song videos. would have to have a tow bar to carry around the gas station but hey, when you have millions the price of petrol is not a concern. would keep the furbie vrs for sure but might drive it a bit harder. still scarred that something will go wrong if i give it what it so desperatly wants.

just look at the beasty beast of a beast :) :)

So what do you guys reckon I should go for next?

Or to put the question another way, if you ordered a cab and I pulled up in it what car would impress you most?

On my list for next year so far is -

A-list

Chrysler 300c 3.0v6 CRD - my fave but not sure I can justify the 3.0 running costs for a taxi!!

Mercedes E-class E270/220 the 220 obviously would be more economical but I have no problem keeping up with a mates C270 in the Superb so I think it would have to be the 270 or i'd get bored!

BMW 5 series 535d!! 530d or 525d again not sure I can really justify the running cost of the 535 or 530, but i'd love the 535!!

Jaguar S-Type 2.7 twin turbo diesel

Lexus Is200 when they release the 2.2 diesel

B-list

Mondeo STtdci - nice but getting old now, due for replacement soon surely

Avensis 2.2 sport 170bhp (when released)

Or any other suggestions! as economical as possible but also got to be fun and faster than the average taxi!!

A8 TDI?

S320CDI?

730d?

My vRS is only a few months old. It'll be kept 'till the warranty is up, then if I'm wearing a sensible hat, I'll get an Audi A3 TDi. If I'm wearing my silly hat, it'll be a Audi TT V6.

However, I'm not lovin' the new shaped TT as much as the current. Time will tell...

I july 2008 my GF will be trading her Clio in for a BMW Z3, a Z4 if we can find one cheap enough.

If I can't opt out of the company car scheme it will be either, Golf Plus, Passat Estate, another Skoda, Vectra, Mondeo etc etc. Something with a big boot that smells of diesel.

If I can opt out it will be a nearly new Audi A4 Avant or Jag X Type Estate

I am currently thinking of womens boobs, they more interesting than any car.

:D:thumbup:

I'd like a Range Rover by Overfinch:D

Back to reality possibly a Superb 2.5 tdi elegance to replace the Felica, keeping the oct'y:thumbup:

Currently considering the following

Lupo (with s3 conversion)

S3

R32

LCR

A4 2.5TDI woth BBS LMS

What we reckon?

Modern stuff is just so boring - but as long as you have a thoroughly practical Skoda for everyday why not go mad and have a really OTT 'classic' for the weekend.

If Budget was not an issue - how about a 6R4 :)

Well, my Octy TDi is doing everything I need right now. But if you gave me a £20k voucher to spend on a new car I would be giving the new 2.2 CTDi Civic a very close look. I love those folding rear seat bases (I badly scratched the Octy trying to lift a bike into the boot). And that dashboard! Cool.

For the driving school use, the Fabia vRS is going to be difficult to beat. I am expecting to keep it 4 years, so hope they are still making a viable alternative then (maybe one with a 2.0l 150bhp oil burner?).

As for my pleasure transport, we are saving up. Shortlist is TVR Tuscan or Cerbera, Jag XJR (V8 one) or possibly Monaro VXR if prices have fallen enough when the bank balance rises enough. The missus wants the TVR.

Chris

Morris minor, a pipe and some trouser jazz
