well, what a weekend! the annual ring trip, first time I will have pushed the old octy!

 

 

waiting at the ferry....

 

we stopped at spa first....

 

 

it was a beautiful hot day... in fact over 30C every day we were out there!

Then on to Germany, we arrive safe at the house!

 

 

some good company, some good food, some good beers... where can you go wrong ?!

 

 

Then on to the track..... the old boy did quite well on his road tyres..... caned it to death, and it didn't break... a bit of heat soak up the hill, but all was well!

 

 

seriously think I now need the suspension mods, roll bars ect !lol....

 

worst thing that happened... my brakes got a bit hot, and melted my center caps, and they dissapeared!!

 

 

on the way home we drove through 30-35C temps, at constant 3 figure speeds, for HOURS, and Daddy Phantom performed brilliantly! Air-con was awesome (sorry Phil/Jason) and the car performed perfectly...

And we make it home!! over 1,500 miles of some seriously hard driving, what a joy this car is! long distance comfy reliable cruiser!! (and a track capable too! [just]) I have much more faith in this car now, I chusked everything at it, and it ran perfectly, absolutely no issues, used about 2 mill of oil from the max (and that was topped up 2 weeks and 500 miles BEFORE we left!) couldn't have asked for better, I think I may treat him to a few mods over the winter in readyness for some track days next year!!!

 

I have some vids, yet to upload some really good ones, there is one from someone else of my car spitting fire too! lol.... exhaust sounded brilliant... anyway here is a couple already done, this one by Phil, following me on, so busy I just stayed out the way, but Phil got stuck in! look for the near crash into the back of the focus RS, and the spin at 3 figure speeds!

ok , here's the vid from Andrews car... he was nice and patient with me as I got passed by almost everything! (I like a quieter ring!) there is fire out the exhaust at 22 seconds if you look close enough! lol.... I heard it go bang anyway :P I like the commentary on my burning brakes ! ( I looked up my pads on-line, they apparently cost a whole £18) didn't fade though... it did get hot enough to melt my center caps that dissapeared! pmsl.... some suspension and brake upgrades will be forthcoming!

right, its getting cold up North here ...first frosts are here, and the snow will be just across the border in a few days! winter wheels and tyres time!!

 

got some nice Dunlop D4 winters (great reviews) from a member here in the for sale forums , who i know who lives nearby...... lovely 225/40/18 dlavour, V rated too

 

 

I'm really liking the offset of my cheap £50 wheels (from local VAG selling page on facebook!) fill the arches way better than the spiders!

 

 

liking the look! may have to refurb them and keep them as my proper wheels... now to decide on a colour .... also need center caps!

Dang i was staying about an hours drive away from the ring, if i knew you guys were over there i would of popped up for a lap, loving the build thread so far :thumbup:

dammit. about t start a training course hundreds of miles away fr 3 weeks, and the bloody ABS and traction lights come on :(  I guess its a sensor, so I'm just going to ignore it for now.... haven't paid for its MOT yet :(

I had this recently, turns out it was a bolt that had fallen out and the sensor had moved slightly. Gave it a bit of a wiggle and it seems to be okay now. Still missing the bolt but I have a spare sensor to go in when/if I need it.

VCDS or code reader should be able to tell you which wheel.

didn't give it a wiggle, started up next day, just ABS light not traction, after about 100yards ABS light went out and all is well again...... spurious signal maybe?! (or loose like you say Jonathan)

Sounds like a sensor sync issue, might have been some dirt somewhere although im fully aware of these buggers having pants sensors

working away for a few weeks.... reminds me just how GOOD this car is as a long distance cruiser... effortless and comfortable on the motorway... just what you need
