Heavens to betsy!

A chain tensioner is not exactly rocket science still, is it?!

I'm not sure I follow you?

Is sucking oil from dip stick not good for tsi engines for changing the oil?

Can leave behind a "sludge" at the bottom of the sump , cam chains like very clean oil. The great Saab 2.0 and 2.3 engines were very long lived indeed with proper regular oil changes, without this you'd have to schedule a cam chain replacement - or two!

I know that should be the case, but a combination of my luck, the fact that this is a fairly common fault makes me want to confirm it with the dealer. It shouldn't happen, but it sometimes does.

Thanks for all the replies, info and suggestions :)

Is it?

Haven't seen it mentioned much on here.

Us 1.8tsi Yeti owners are a small but elite group :cocktail:

I'm not a fan.

I usually do my oil as soon as I get home from the 45km drive from work.  Oil nice & hot and lots of solids in suspension.  You need to wear gloves though.

So I spoke to the dealer who did the chain and tensioner, and they confirmed that the revised parts had been fitted :)

That's a bit excessive? - I normally wait at least a year or 10,000 miles before I change mine..... :)
