Rubber mats

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

For those who have purchased rubber floor mats, is there a strong rubber smell?

I seem to get through fabric mats quite quickly and wonder if the rubber ones will last better.

However, I don't want to open the door to be hit by a strong rubber smell, if you know what I mean.

Can anyone share their experiences please?

Thank you.

No smell at all from genuine Skoda mats purchased from superskoda.com.

My previous Roomster (Scout) had fabric mats, which started to deteriorated in the area of the driver's heels.

When I swapped them for genuine Skoda rubber mats, I noticed a faint "rubbery" smell on day one but nothing afterwards.

When I sold the Scout, I transferred the rubber mats my current Roomster.

The mats have now seen six years' service - and still no rubbery smell.

Hi, Had rubber mats in our Octavia Scout for 8 years-- many a smell but non of rubber........................

Nope, I got the full set for Christmas via SuperŠkoda and I've never noticed a rubbery smell thankfully.

If you do get a smell, it won't last long anyway. I bought aftermarket rubber mats for the wife Honda Jazz, and the rubber smell was really strong for the first few days, but it does disappear.

Personally I enjoy the smell of rubber.....makes me moist!!!

Sorry about that, couldn't resist. I cant say I have ever noticed it myself in all my years of driving!

Same here, maybe on day one there was, but still just a 'New Car' smell now :-)

  • Many thanks all.

I will attempt to negotiate with my dealer for a set......if not.....SuperSkoda it is.

Take care everyone

I bought a set of rubber mats from eBay (decent ones, really happy with them) and they smelled of rubber for about a week. Give them a wash/wipe before you fit them and that should do the trick

Got dealer fitted rubber mats and couldn't smell them above the new car smell. Decided on these as I'm on building sites a bit so fabric ones would get trashed.
