Switched live fuse for dash cam...

Featured Replies

So which one have you used?

I was going to use the rear wiper fuse but it's a micro fuse and the piggyback adapter I have is for the standard size fuse.

For safety I want to use a non critical to piggy back off.

Thanks in advance.

I've just used the lighter socket.

Easy enough to pull the centre console up and splice into cigarette lighter feed for your live supply. This is what I did to Hyphons car

Is the lighter socket permanent live? it is on the Octy. Thinking of fitting a dashcam to OH's Up.

Lighter socket is ignition live.

+1 I used the fuse adaptor in the socket for the cig lighter. Is it only live when ignition is on so works perfect for the next base dash cam. I got the nexbase accessory kit for £14 with has a full size and micro fuse adaptor and works great. The only thing I had to do was remove the clear fuse box cover which just unclips

Thanks chaps.

I never thought of the cig lighter supply, as it is permanent live on the Yeti.

Not permanent no, only with ignition on

Cheers, Hyphons. Would make fitting one to an Octy so much easier.

Are there any that are protected from voltage drop/cutting out when the starter runs?

The lighter socket, heater fan and rear wash wipe turn off when the starters on, however both dashcams I've got don't switch off until they've had power removed for several seconds so doesn't matter.

I've got two mobiuses (mobii?) with capacitors instead of batteries, they don't seem to like it much when the start/stop feature kicks in. :/

Glad I went for the battery option then!!
